Nokia N95 - YES OR NO
Comments

After reading all of this Im off the N95 - Sticking to my SE W950i with tomtom
Now THAT is a brilliant piece of software.. Getting lost in Edinburgh isn't very nice..
Taking me to the cinema 2 minutes up the road through a one way system in a city I know nothing about is painless with TOMTOM and the W950i
If you need GPS stick with TomTOM - using a SirfStar III chipset - the best on the market.
The N95 one is OK and people have used it with success. But I'm not so sure.
OR use N95 with bluetooth GPS plus tomtom? W950i is OK - but no camera! Sometimes you need to take some fotos.....0 -
hmm not sure what chipset my bluetooth GPS has but I only spent about 20 or so on it0
-
The idea behind W950i is good. But it's not worth it.The N95 has all good features except GPS.
You maye need to debrand it before you can use it properly.0 -
A good in depth review of the n95 can be found HERE (links to the 6 seperate sections are at the bottom of the page)
I don't have one, but I have had many Nokia's and no problems on any of them.
If I wouldnt have recently upgraded to an E61, I would have an N95 anyday0 -

I think some people just don't like the N95 cos it's out of their pocket range. For those that have used (generic firmware versions) it has been a pleasant experience.0 -
And this GPS is NOT intended for cars - it's a pedestrians GPS. Be good if you could link to other mappping services, but maybe that'll come - i.e for local areas - the detail could be better. Paying for the directions - well, again it's a pedestrians GPS, I think any directions would be more aimed towards cars, it's a totally different prospective when you're on foot. Also, as you need a good data package, and the only really good one for constant use is with T-Mob, (not going there) it rather limits the usage, unless you can get a good GPRS deal from your network operator (a la Orange).0

I don't think patwa knows what he's talking about!
BTW have you got one?
If not then you're in NO position to be giving advice. Some peoples comments on the phone are because of their own stupidity! They all want a brand spanking new phone with all the bells and whistles but don't even know how to use it! And then go complaining all over the internet!
Today my GPS got a lock onto me in about 1 min!
Like you can't compare N95 with K800i or even K810i becasue this is a SMARTphone - You have to compare like with like. SO P990i and N95 would be a good comparison. So comparing battery with a K800i is pointless. And i'm sure k800i battery is probably (about) same as N95 anyway!0 -
No for me, because:
1) I prefer phones with a QWERTY keyboard and touch screen.
2) N95's battery life abyssmal.
3) Ok so it does have a 5MP camera, but unless you're wanting to transfer pictures to your PC and zoom into them, there's not much point. On a screen the same size as the N95, you can't tell the difference between pictures taken by a 2MP, 3MP or even a 5MP camera. Megapixels mean nothing if you only want to keep the pics on your phone.
4) It's Symbian - slow, buggy, tends to crash. By the time you've got the camera working, Hayley's comet or whatever it is you want to take a picture of will be god knows where.
5) Overpriced. So it's a new phone, but £500?! You can buy a decent camera, MP3 player and a mid-range phone separately for less than that. You'll be carrying more things, but they'll do a better job and won't die on you half way through.
Fair play to those after the "best phone on the market" or have money burning a hole in their pockets, but I will not be buying the N95 at any point. Give me my trusty MDA any day0 -

Fair enough.2) N95's battery life abyssmal.
Qwerty keyboards are generally smartphones or windows mobile - ALL have rubbish battery life.3) Ok so it does have a 5MP camera, but unless you're wanting to transfer pictures to your PC and zoom into them, there's not much point. On a screen the same size as the N95, you can't tell the difference between pictures taken by a 2MP, 3MP or even a 5MP camera. Megapixels mean nothing if you only want to keep the pics on your phone.
Good point. Why would you not want to transfer pictures onto PC? N95 screen is big - but you still want to see what they look like on a bigger screen. Do you not transfer pics from your digital camera to PC?
For most people this will be digital camera replacement.4) It's Symbian - slow, buggy, tends to crash. By the time you've got the camera working, Hayley's comet or whatever it is you want to take a picture of will be god knows where.
Incorrect - you obviously haven't done your homework. Network branding screws phone up like there is no tomorrow! Far from slow - new OS is now real quick and zippy. Ok camera takes time loading up but once loaded pretty quick - just like a digital camera you have to set it up first; sports mode, night mode.............. obviously. And is quick at taking pics. Just like a digital camera.5) Overpriced. So it's a new phone, but £500?! You can buy a decent camera, MP3 player and a mid-range phone separately for less than that. You'll be carrying more things, but they'll do a better job and won't die on you half way through.
Yeah on contract wayyyyyy overpriced - but think about what you're getting! On ebay £300 MAX. so cheap.Fair play to those after the "best phone on the market" or have money burning a hole in their pockets, but I will not be buying the N95 at any point. Give me my trusty MDA any day
Have you seen the size of a damn MDA? it's enourmous! No wonder it's got a (slightly) better battery life - it's gigantic!
Oh and you forgot about GPS, DVD quality recording. VOIP and WIFI........Try fitting a 'decent camera MP3 player and a mid range phone' a GPS device and camcorder in your jeans pocket........
........didn't think you could!0
