Constantly crashed, if you keep it in your pocket then it tends to slide open on its own, the camera quality is excellent but its a lot to pay for a decent camera pictutre, the sat nav took an eternity and some of the icons on the touch screen sometimes didnt work. (Maybe I'm being a bit kind with the 2 stars here !) Maybe a decent firmware would sort out some of the problems but until then I wouldnt get one.
What touch screen???? The N95 doesnt have one! Yours is probably a fake like the ones on Ebay - CECT N95!0 -
Not had experience of the N95, thats because I refuse to buy Nokia after my 6280 and previous Nokia's before that...
I would honestly NEVER buy Nokia again.... they release them too soon to try and always have the latest, greatest phones, but they are always crap with rubbish firmware, crap battery life etc....
I now have a K800i and I love it. Nothing spectacular but just a good solid phone with decent features!!! Sony Ericsson phones are the complete opposite to Nokia, tested well, good firmware, good batter life, no rubbish sliding mechanisms!
Oh and nearly forgot, if you are thinking about buying the phone and "putting up with the problems" until the new firmware comes out, I would say think again.... I had to wait AGES for Nokia to release the firmware to fix my 6280... about 4 months I think which meant my phone would randomly reset itself 20 times a day for the four months until fixed....
All IMHO of course!!!

It's quite clear that you are not actually blaming Nokia - I am pretty sure the 6280 u had was on 3? am I right?
If so there's you problem - NEVER buy branded phones and if you do make sure you change the firmware to generic before you go around blaming Nokia.
With regards to firmware it has to be approved by the network so chances are that the bug was fixed in 1 month but took 3 months for network to approve it.0 -

Correct, but my bad experiences with Nokia go lots further back than my 6280... I had a 7600, 8310, 7110, 8210...
All have been rubbish (even though I loved my 7110's design)... also had loads of friends who had various rubbish Nokia's...

You must be soooooo unlucky with Nokias - I never had any problems with mine LOL!0 -
Its very easy to debrand the phone but it does void your warranty.
Paste this link into your browser :

and read all about it. Ive done mine and it is a totally different phone. Its gone from crashing everyday to not crashing a single time in 3 weeks.

You've made my point quite clearly - Nokia spend hundreds of man hours making proper firmware - then the networks spend 3 weeks with their good for nothing so called 'engineers' putting their crap on it and screwing the whole damn phone!
Complete idiots! Don't know squat!!0 -
TBH, if the N95 had a TV tuner built in I'd go for it in a flash.
But as it doesn't, the fact that it has a 5MP camera really doesn't make me go all weak in the knees. I have a didital camera for that, and as the image is going to be compressed anyway well, it's not worth it then.
The GPS is going to tempt a lot of people, but I can say from trying it out that the reviews are right when they say there is a lag time in getting the data. And this GPS is NOT intended for cars - it's a pedestrians GPS. Be good if you could link to other mappping services, but maybe that'll come - i.e for local areas - the detail could be better. Paying for the directions - well, again it's a pedestrians GPS, I think any directions would be more aimed towards cars, it's a totally different prospective when you're on foot. Also, as you need a good data package, and the only really good one for constant use is with T-Mob, (not going there) it rather limits the usage, unless you can get a good GPRS deal from your network operator (a la Orange).
So yes, it's a good phone, and if you're going straight to it from a much lower model (say S60 v2 or before) than it's good, but if you're upgrading from the N70 or N91, I'd say just to stick to what you've got.
H.Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0 -

Well I've got one and it's brilliant!!!!! I 5MP camera - take all my close up photos with it for ebay - @ 800x600 perfect quality as good as digital. Not tried it at higher res - on my TFT @ 1280x1024 also perfect.
GPS - as you said not so good - but OK'ish. Maps can be downloaded before hand so don't need GPRS/3G Data bundle.
VOIP - brilliant. Can used skype over Uni/Home internet or over GPRS/3G.
DVD quality recording - absolutely brill. Really good.
Memory - only one of a few phones with SDHC compatability potential 32GB card.
WIFI is brill I can download at normal broadband speeds @ home I get about 300-500kb/s. Damn good.
Using 3rd party apps I can play FULL 350MB video files of TV shows i download - no conversion required. And so can also download them directly to my phone and play them. Unlike for example Video ipod where conversion is required.
Dedicated video driver helps.
Boot up times and switch off times are real quick. And big screen - resolution should have been bigger but very bright and crisp.
Can also be used as a mass storage device - like a USB stick just need to use provided cable.
Clearly this is not as good as a dedicated digital camera, or a camcorder or even a GPS unit or even a dedicated Ipod video.
But try and fit ALL those in your pocket????:D
Precisely - this is an all round miltimedia device much more than just a phone. My only quarrell is the cheap GPS chipset. Other than that all is perfect!0 -
After reading all of this Im off the N95 - Sticking to my SE W950i with tomtom
Now THAT is a brilliant piece of software.. Getting lost in Edinburgh isn't very nice..
Taking me to the cinema 2 minutes up the road through a one way system in a city I know nothing about is painless with TOMTOM and the W950i0
