Nokia N95 - YES OR NO
Comments

I have since upgraded the firmware by changing the product code and now I can use it with skype and other VOIP services.
Would you mind sharing with me/us how did you update the firmware?
Would it unlock the phone?
and how do you go about using Skype? I looked everywhere and as far as I can tell, there isn't a Skype version for Symbian
Thanks0 -
Can you confirm whether the n95 has a touch screen?
I want a phone with a high megapixel camera but also with a touch screen. The best i have seen is 2.0mp, is there any better out there or is the n95 the best compromise.0 -

No touch screen. Higher Megapixels doesn't necessarily mean better pictures, just higher resolution ones.0 -
Easily the best specified phone on the high street, but as with alot of new Nokia's, quite buggy.
Battery life is poor, makes the Sat Nav, unusable in the car for journeys of more than a couple of hours unless you have it plugged in to the cigarette lighter.
Random resets of the device (most likely memory related from what I've read)0 -

He's being clever/flash. You need an unlocking/debranding box, as used by your local shop/stall. You can change the product code so that the Nokia website thinks it is a generic phone and will let you flash it with the latest non branded firmware. So it is a trip to the market/shop if you want to do this. Or alternatively, if you can be without your phone for a couple of days, there are a few of us here who can do it.
As for unlocking, it is service provider only, unless anything has changed in the last couple of days.
PS If you have a Nokia service centre near you, they could also do it.0 -

Not had experience of the N95, thats because I refuse to buy Nokia after my 6280 and previous Nokia's before that...
I would honestly NEVER buy Nokia again.... they release them too soon to try and always have the latest, greatest phones, but they are always crap with rubbish firmware, crap battery life etc....
I now have a K800i and I love it. Nothing spectacular but just a good solid phone with decent features!!! Sony Ericsson phones are the complete opposite to Nokia, tested well, good firmware, good batter life, no rubbish sliding mechanisms!
Oh and nearly forgot, if you are thinking about buying the phone and "putting up with the problems" until the new firmware comes out, I would say think again.... I had to wait AGES for Nokia to release the firmware to fix my 6280... about 4 months I think which meant my phone would randomly reset itself 20 times a day for the four months until fixed....
All IMHO of course!!!

i have heard that nokia are bringing a new batch out in 2-3 weeks, to cure all the mistakes they have had on the 1st model, so i would ask in a phone shop to see when its getting relised and get one after that.0
