everyone that works in the public sector is paid from piblic funds. does that mean tat they don't earn it?
his job is as an MP, for which he receives a wage
Yes, I worked in a public sector - getting shot at, for idiots like this who screw us over when we are medically discharged- lose a leg etc.
Now still does that explain a £39 breakfast at public expense compared with a person receiving £56 a week benefit to live on. I've worked and paid taxes all my life but never spent £39 on a breakfast. Greedy, ignorant MP's.....not to mention the 'john lewis' furniture allowance, subsidized bar in the commons, extra homes, duck houses and every other thing they can get their hands on.Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74

What government allowance? It's an employer allowance. Any amount can be claimed for breakfast. There are no government imposed limits but many employers restrict the amount that can be claimed to actual expenses incurred or £8 (or whatever amount they wish to set it at) whichever is lower.
There are guidelines for public employees. I know I get lower limits than my OH. Following the outcry from mp expenses there were limits set, I assumed they'd have similar guidance following the outcry to not waste unnecessarily.0 -

It was reported that 3 people were included in that claim. Do you have a link to show it was only for him? If so then I am wrong but thought I'd read somewhere it was for 3 people, so average London price.0 -

My OH had 5k of expenses in jan, many breakfasts costing more than the govt allowance, but I'd be horrified if anyone suggested he had miss breakfast because his hotel charged more. None govt worker before people complain.
You Oh works for a private company, which does not receive money from people's wages in the for of taxes. His company can claim back monies from expenses claim. There is no comparison. My husband and I as well as yours helped pay for a £39 breakfast, end of.
No excuse apart from one rule for the MP's and one for the public who pay their wages. Do you think army personnel, claim huge breakfast allowances on courses - No chance, breakfast was a couple of quid, !!!! bust.
Where all in this together????????? Got to go to work now to pay taxes...Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74

I think £39 takes the pee - but not £13. That is why I asked do you know if it was purely his and not for 3 people as I read.0

Been there!
It's been over twenty years since we last moved but I remember it well.
We hired a van and did it ourselves - never again! Ever tried moving a full-size upright piano?
It took us two days to move. Luckily, the people we sold our old house to weren't moving in for a few days.
As we did the last run (houses two miles apart) at midnight - I could have cheerfully laid on the van floor and slept.0
