Annoying (pregnant) friend

  • My advice? (Please, everyone, bear in mind I never intend having any children and at best find the idea of motherhood bemusing)

Grit your teeth, be happy for her, but do repeat every so often that there are other things to talk about. Last friend I had that was a baby bore when pregnant, I eventually announced very loudly - after 5 MONTHS- "Well done - you had sex with what you consider to be an appropriate outcome. Nice work. Now can we talk about something other than the successful outcome of your rampant bonking please?" I was embarrassed I said it...but she had a hearty chuckle!

And to keep your sanity, have a chuckle at this: http://www.stfuparentsblog.com/

Patience is a bit of a virtue here :)

That website is so funny! Some parents are so vile.....posting pics of their childs poo on fb!! I would have to de friend someone if I saw that!!!hahaha:rotfl:
  • It doesnt matter what the suject is, the topic of conversation between two friends should never be one sided all of the time. Its incredibly draining. I have some friends who have had babies and it is pretty much the only topic of conversation, when I get a word in I can see thier eyes glaze over and it quickly swtches back to babies. I can see these friends drifting from me and becoming closer to mums who want to talk babies constantly like themselves, i guess its natural.

Just what I was trying to say!

She text me today saying she hopes we can meet soon, but is not sure if she is up for it because she is sooooooo tired all of the time! We have discussed names, dates, whether its male/female, childcare arrangements, maternity pay/leave, the unborn childs personality, her friends children the list goes on........not sure what else I can talk about!!

The one that gets me is the .....

Do you know if you are having a boy or girl??

....No, we are waiting to find out as we want a suprise!

The only time it will be a suprise is if its neither!!!!!!!!! Its going to be one or the other so its hardly a suprise is it???

Also when you ask somone about baby names.....

.....We are not going to tell anyone until its born, we are keeping it a secret.

...To be honest, I was just asking out of politeness, I couldnt care less what you call your baby to be honest!!:rotfl:

  • I find it so awkward when someone tells you the name of their baby and its something you think is awful.

So what did you call you sweet little bundle of joy in the end??

    ......Teagan
    Regan
    Kenzie
    Kaedie
    Ryleigh
    Tiffany
    Mercedes
    Lexie

WHAT SWEET NAMES I say!!!!!!! But in my head.........BLEUGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Hahahahahaha

my grandson is called Mackenzie (Kenz or Kenzie for short), and I really dislike it! Love the kid - hate the name!
When asking the name, I now school my expression into 'impressed'. and say 'How did you come up with that'? as nearly every name I have heard lately has been rather weird. sort of reminds me of the early seventies when kids got called names like moonstruck and starbeam!
