Hi Cath :hello: You know you've cracked it when you finally see rubbish days for what they really are - just rubbish days - and don't blame everything on the fact that you don't smoke any more! Well done you!! I know what it's like watching the OH smoke away - mine doesn't even go outside - but one thing that keeps me going is that HE is actually envious of ME for quitting and not being miserable about it :rotfl:

Hi JoeHel. OH goes outside when kids are here but when they are out he smokes inside whether I am in or not. It was at work he went outside because it's a no smoking building!!! I have to say though when we are not having stressful days he does tend to go out less and smoke less because we are not endlessly offering each other a cigarette. Oops a daisy. You will get there, you will feel much better for not smoking (especially when it's cold!!! and raining!! or snowing!!!)

I am going to get an air purifier for our lounge. A quiet one that can be going all the time. If we shut the windows and door before bed it can clear the room completely overnight. I've checked my quit stats and I think I've "saved" enough for one ... I'm sure I can get a good one for under £50?

Hit the 2 month mark about 20 minutes ago :j

I have been quit for 2 Months, 18 minutes and 30 seconds (61 days). I have saved £444.16 by not smoking 1,708 cigarettes. I have saved 5 Days, 22 hours and 20 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 04/11/2007 23:00

Well done JoeHel-that's excellent !!!! You should be very proud of yourself. I have to say I am unsure what time I stopped smoking. I just know it was before 9pm on 1st December 2007. I'm mildly asthmatic and should never have smoked in the first place!!! I am looking forward to being able to say that I have done 7 months (ok so its nearly 6 months away but last time i only stopped for 6 months) This time it's for good. For the good of my health, my pocket and bank balance, my kids... etc etc

Thanks Cath. I can't quite believe it to be honest! I've only ever quit for a couple of days before. I don't think for one second that you will ever smoke again. I just know from the way you write and the way you are obviously thinking. I hope your OH and kids are very proud of you and with any luck he'll follow your fantastic example!!

Oops a daisy, I LOVE the use of the daily savings as a title and have decided to 'borrow' same from you for my signature. That way I'll know how much I haven't smoked and can afford to spend elsewhere. I smoked 40 a week at £4.48 per pack, so that's £1.28 per day and this is day 5, so that's £6.40 :)
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

    Hi Melbury!
Stopped smoking (again) now three days ago....

I smoked for a wapping 44 years (up to two packs a day...) and stopped for 48 hours for a breathing test in September 2006.... Passed with flying colours and the news that my lungs functioned 10% better than a non-smoker of my age convinced me to keep going.

I had a (long slow) death in the family and reached for them again at the end of September 07..... The good news is that I know I can do it but still 'n all, I am thinking one day at a time....

This time next year (with our combined savings) we'll be joint moneysaving millionaires!!!!!!

    Hugs

Far too much to say and too many people to catch up with, but hi regulars (did you miss me? :D - yeah right) and welcome to the newbies.

I'll jump back in and add my own brand of wisdom  as and when.

Now I must wander off and find that 'no alcohol in January' thread......

EDIT : The no alcohol thread is a bit hardcore for me :o:o ....... I'm only stopping drinking on school nights
