Yes, but just sometimes it helps to take it in bite sized chunks instead of forever. For today, for tomorrow, etc. I truly believe I'll never smoke again but it doesn't detract from the fact that I loved smoking. I hate what it did to me but I loved the act, the feeling, the smell, the lot! Learning to not crave the act of it was bigger than the chemical desire to be honest. I can fake that sometimes still. A quick pencil and a foolish puff and blow and I'm all better. In my heart though I can say it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I was scared of failing so many times that I didn't even try because it was SO hard. This has been my one and only quit.

I agree that it's much easier to think of one hour or one day at a time. You never really need to think further ahead than that do you. :D

  • Oh, and one other thing I noticed in my quit............. it was only ever the SMOKERS who said I would never do it. Weird!

Well done so far Oops a daisy. and everyone else who is managing to abstain from smoking. So the invisible man is at your house too is he. Over the last couple of days a whole tin of orange segments has vanished and I have only had a dozen or so. But I asked the kids and OH and it wasn't them either so it must have been the invisible man too!!:D Well...it is christmas. But i really did only have a dozen or so. The kids and OH have no restraint whatsoever. If I was going to eat something. It would be very secretive if I didn't want them to know. So secretive that I would just buy it and eat it without their knowledge-and hide the evidence. Not that I would do that...obviously!!!
Anyway... I digress. Seriously though, you should be very proud of yourself, well done on your success so far, and continued good luck and support to keep it up.

    Hi

Still here and still going strong. Strangly have been thinking about fags today. Not in a yearning wanting one type of way but just thinking of them. May have been to do with the MOT today. Been rushing around trying to get a tyre and an exhaust. Note to self. Must get a smaller car as having a Volvo estate is not good when you need an exhaust. It was mahooosive. any way £196 later plus MOT = £246  . Still not got the MOT as too late so have re test Monday. On nights for the next 4 days so will catch up with all the goings on during the early hours.
basilcat. Funny that you mention #2's. Have had a few problems myself and have not linked the two together. Hope I dont have to pay a fortune in Haemorrhoid cream(sp) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Keep strong everyone

    Another reason not to smoke.

Went out yesterday at 1pm and forget that i had tried to put the gas fire on. Came home at 3 to a really strong smell of Gas. The fire had been pumping out gas for 2 hours but not alight  . Managed to open every window in the house and clear the stench. Wont be doing that again for a while:o

Imagine walking in the door with a Cigarette

  • YM doesn't bear thinking about!

Well 6 months and 1 week and must admit its nice seeing the January quit adverts and not thinking (whilst puffing) oh I must stop!! That was me this time last year!! Followed by another period of secret smoking and finally my FOREVER quit in June! To all my fellow quitters, new and old, well done, keep it up and simply take each second, minute, hour as it comes - each one is an achievement!! GO US.

    love and hugs

YM you are so lucky!! Have you had your gas fires checked recently? I thought there was a safety cut-out valve now to prevent this happening. I am shuddering at the thought, as I lived near Larkhall a few years when the gas main exploded! Puts you right off having gas and OMG! If you had walked in with a cigarette!!

Still here, day 4, not missed them yet but keeping myself amused with moneymaking and pennypinching projects. Well done to everyone who is in the same boat as me - we cannot sink! Keep rowing! And extra well done to the long haul quitters, hope you are reaping the benefits somehow :T

Edited in... umm, anyone seen 2 boxes of Thorntons choccies? I am SURE they were at side of computer after Christmas
