  • Having a better day today - just goes to show that the feelings do pass. Have developed a nasty cough now - I know I don't want to smoke today, 'cos it will make the cough worse.

Good luck to you all and keep positive.

    I recommend whisky :D:D

I only have a day at work to get through on Monday, then I'm going to batten down the hatches and eat my own bodyweight in things that aren't good for me :D:D

I won't be coming on here (I shouldn't think) until new year, so I would like to wish everyone on this thread a happy, smoke-free xmas (that means you lurkers too, y'know :D:D). Even if you have started smoking again - don't beat yourselves up about it. Have a great christmas anyway and I can see this being a very busy thread in the new year, what with everyone's resolutions and all :D

    Best wishes, all

Hello all and merry Christmas :D

Sorry I've not been around, my laptop went up the swanny with a virus, it's not 100% still :(

Hope we are all okay and enjoying the holidays? This is a tricky time of the year especially for those of you that haven't quit that long. You are all in my thoughts, think how proud you'll feel of yourself when you hear how many people are planning to quit on Jan 1st and you are already a good few days/weeks/months in :D:D:beer:

Had a really quiet Christmas so far, which is amazing considering I've got 3 kids! Spending today doing nothing  until 4pm when I've got to go to the outlaws :(:(

    Hope you are all ok??

    xx

Hello to all, I recognise a few names here so don't feel quite so bad about 'coming out' as a smoker! :rotfl:

I've smoked for about 25 years in total and have quit on 2 occasions in the past, the first because I had an expensive hobby (an impulse buy that meant I couldn't afford cigs for a long time) and then when I was clearing debts after a divorce. However, I started again with the agreement (with myself) to stick to 20 a week, which then crept up to 40. This is not good when trying to live on £4000 a year, so 2008 is 'must stop completely' time. Do you mind if I join you all on here in case I need some moral support? I refuse to believe that smoking is an addiction and find it more of a habit - I only smoke when having coffee or chatting on the phone and only ever in one particular room, so will be doing what you call the 'cold turkey' route (and avoiding my kitchen table unless it's mealtimes! :D) Does anyone else have this weird 'Pavlovian' response to chatting on the phone? :o
