The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!

Hi all. Re finishin a meal with a smoke, that was something I never wanted to do when I smoked but I had to start the day with one to the extent that I have stood outside 5am on a freezing winter morning to indulge. I must have been off my trolley!! Still have the occasional urge to smoke (usually lasts only a second though) but most of the time now I cant stand the smell!! Wierd or what?
Well, last night we all started to make papier mache money boxes and they are now stood proudly drying out ready for the next layer!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

I don't like the smell now, and when we are going somewhere and OH decides to stand outside and smoke before we set off it really winds me up

I can really relate to that one. If we were going ANYWHERE we would get us and the kids ready, then Mrs T would say "right, one more fag, then we can go". Used to      , but I know that previously, I would have agreed and had one with her.
Hope we are all doing well to day. You are all doing the best thing you will ever do!!!! :T :T :T:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -

Hello All,
I hope you don't mind me barging in on this thread!! good to see you again TNG!!
Well I think I've finally quit smoking, been trying out different things for the best part of a year now, and it turns out I'm rubbish at giving up!!!
Me and the OH had hypnotism last thursday, and it seems to have done the trick! I figured it was a bit of a gamble with the money as I'm so skint, but Its only really a months fag money!!
So i've not smoked since Thursday, which is 5 days now. How long will it take before I NEVER want one again?
I had a few withdrawl pangs the first couple of days, but didn't fancy a cig at all. There has prob been about 3 occasions where I fancied one.
I love not smelling horrid :j
Well done everyone else, I've not had time to read the whole thread but a gather there is a few of you in here!Proud to be dealing with my debts

Welll helloooooooooooo skintas!!!!! :hello: :T :j :j Barge on in!
How nice to see youWell done on stopping (at last
), I'm made up for you.
You will think about them less and less over a very short period of time. Eventually, you will just get the thought pop in to your head now and again. A TINY little voice that says "ciggy" and then goes away just as quickly. If you need a boost - check some of the links on post #1.
Stick around. I don't think we have anyone who has used hypnotherapy. We've got a few cold turkeys, a couple of allen carrs, a champix or two, and some patchy gum types :rotfl: Your experiences will be useful to lurkers!!:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
:TThis is the special Quitnet Wizard I used to follow my progress after giving up smoking. All you have to do is register (free). You can use it to bump start you if you hope to stop smoking or, like me, if you have already given up smoking. I reckoned on spending approximately £15-20 per week (the ciggies I smoked were approx £5 a packet then)
You don't need to join in the forums or anything. I didn't. I'm one of those people who can't be doing on talking about stuff as 'support' for things like stopping smoking ... all it would do is make me focus more on the fact I wasn't smoking and you can be sure I'd be itching for a fag quite quickly! I just got on and did it and got it over with.
But I loved the little Quitnet Wizard and the regular email I get to show how much I've saved. I would hope I never start smoking again but I do like to encourage others to stop the evil weed and this little Wizard is definitely an eye-opener!

Good luck!I don't drink, don't smoke, don't go out - why aren't I rich?
Don't worry, I'm working on it!0 -
Can strongly recommend "give up smoking the easy way" by allen carr. Great book. got me to stop anyway. He also wrote a sequal which is "Stay stopped smoking the easy way" or something similar.
good luck to all that seek to stop.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0 -
I intend to stick around!!!
Need to make this stop smoking WORK!!!!
also need to sort out my moneysaving ways!
I missed this place :rotfl:Proud to be dealing with my debts
