  • Played Golf today and as it was windy brought myself a pack of 20. My god  how expensive. Yet another reason to give up. I might even give up earlier than the 1st Jan. Watch this space.

  • :grouphug: Jo, hope you feel a bit better this weekend...nothing worse than a weekend feeling rubbish and then getting better in time for work on Monday!;)

:hello: Hello and good luck! cheap as chips and mamoru - wow I feel like an established quitter since so may people have joined - this is brill! You've come to the right place as everyone here is very supportive and as they have all been though it themselves they know what you're going through.

Nice to see you around JoeHel and TNG

I'm enjoying not having to try and disguise my stinky breath as I'm visiting the folks (yes I'm 26 and they don't know - i hope!:rotfl: )

    Have a good weekend all

    Morning all,

Mamoru, sorry I missed your post, good luck, stick around a get some quitting vibes from here and lots of support :)

    How's everyone else?

YM, sounds as though you might be setting a date soon ;)

You all seem to be doing so well, now you've just got to remember as xmas looms and the parties start that we don't all become complacent and forget while we're doing this.

YM, Mamaru, Tobruk and all others that are still smoking - Mumofcookers mentioned an excellent tip for those that are still smoking but want to stop. Install the silkquit meter on your PC and see exactly how much you are smoking and spending, think this will help when you decide to stop as if you get a craving you can think of all the money and time you've wasted over the years smoking.

Woman-flu is subsiding, got a weekend full of housework, washing, cooking and shopping :(

    How cold is it today!!

    Have a lovely day :)

After a couple of attempts i have 3 cigarettes left and after those i'm hoping to smoke no more.

My method will be to use willpower alone, i tried the patches although they made me feel dizzy and sick.

Shall update you all on my progress, wish me luck :S x

Hi jo, good to know you are starting to feel better ;) What you said about the silkquit meter - I have installed it on my pc BUT I did this when I set a date to quit 8 days ago however I fell at the first hurdle NOW THERE'S A SURPRISE!!!

I feel absolutely useless as I just can't get to the actual giving up when the time comes! One thing I do know is that as I'm going home for Christmas I won't be able to smoke so I shall be putting a patch on then - this may be the time that I do the deed - it's just when I come back will be the problem.

Use that as your springboard and motivation Tobruk. :T

Hi TNG, yes that seems to be the crunch time to aim for but I am just worried that when I return from being home I shall start again!

    :hello:

Make sure that there aren't any lying around when you return to tempt you. Clean out all the ash trays before you go and hide them, along with the lighters/matches

When you come back it will seem more like a fresh start than a return to old ways :)
