i know this isnt a benefits board, but a lot of disabled people do have problems accessing benefits.
i feel these questions are far more suited to this board than the general benefit boards, as disability benefits have criteria that doesnt sxist in the ;normal' benefit system,

WELL SAID NT.
Must say I like both forums.0 -

- agreed 99% of what is discussed here is about disabled specific issues
- leave the other board for generalist non disabled specific issues
- it was always and will always be that wayDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. You're wrong on that, it has not "always" been that way and it should not be that way - by suggesting that those with disability related issues should stick to this board is doing them a great disservice. The main benefits board has far more technical expertise, whereas although this board does have some very helpful members, it tends to get overrun by certain zealots (not including yourself in that Richie, indeed I have noted several occasions where you have had to correct the more "overenthusiastic" members).
Also worth noting that this board was set up for disability moneysaving, discussing medical aids, the costs of alternative treatments and so on - the original threads make for interesting reading.0 -

The problem with this is that most benefits overlap - and anyone with expertise in welfare benefits will also know the criteria for disability benefits. Again, you are doing members a great disservice by suggesting they should post here rather than the benefits board. As helpful as this board is, it simply does not have the technical expertise demonstrated by certain members of the benefits board.0 -
what has annoyed me from the very start of this board is that it is widely used for benefit related questions, shame really when there is a perfectly good benefits forum already on mse, perhaps the board guides should start to move them?
as for the name of this forum,it hasnt been a problem so far !
I will always move a thread if someone asks me to, but I don't read them all. I have always thought that if a regular posts a thread in here, knowing there is another board for benefits, that they have a good reason for wanting it in here.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I for one don't know what the 'Site Feedback Board' is, or even care. I do agree with the O/P for the reasons I gave in another # that the name has become negatively pre-associated by politicians and media and would be better named Disability & Benefits.
There is nothing in my opinion wrong, other than the 'dosh' phrase with the board at all, the zealots and eejits can be, and have been managed adequately over time. People are drawn here by the word Disability but post for many many different reasons not necessarily benefit related. Any attempt at amalgamation of this board into another is unnecessarily tinkering with the unknown without any subjective let alone objective justification whatsoever.
Try to stick to the question the O/P asked and resist the attempt drag the spirit of what the O/P intended in a different direction from what s/he intended.

i responded to a 'bedroom tax' post on the benefits and tax credits board.
one comment was that 'single disabled people' get the highest rates of benefit/
really?
wheres mine then?
on this board there is cmpathy and understanding that will never be there on the regular benefits voard.
its become a war, with thos who work starting to resent every penny paid to people on benefits.
they dont seem to consider that a lot of disabled people have no choice0 -

Would that not then give the impression that this board was purely for benefits advice relating to disability?Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -

It might give many differing impressions to many different people, but certainly not the case that its 'exclusively' benefits advice only nor 'wholly' disabled advice only. You are fundamentally correct however that this board is whilst not exclusively disabled nor exclusively benefit related is poulated by the disabled and their thirst for understanding benefits in general and the cathedral sized pandemonium that we know as the Welfare Reforms.
Essentially nothing changes, the urban originated non-word 'dosh', used innocently, at the time of its inception is now gerrymandered by the nasty party and adversely associated with scroungers would be replaced by a less provocative [noun / verb] 'benefits'. Both words mean exactly the same thing, so fundamentally nothing changes other than the trolls & chav's lose the capacity to easily misunderstand it as provocative. People come here for many reasons sometimes frivolous reasons, sometimes just for a whine or a vent, many times because they can and will get a sympathetic ear when they have no one else in the big round world to turn to, there is no ether place in any of Martins's forums that will offer that 'listening ear', and its a better forum for it.
Boards evolve over time, whilst the central tenet's of a board remain broadly the same, but the sub conversations, the tributary's run off in different conversations. For example the Gas & Electricity Board 2 years ago was :
- windmills
- last year solar panels
- this last 5 weeks is The Green Deal
- 99% of what is discussed here is about disabled specific issues
- leave the other board for generalist non disabled specific issues
- it was always, and will always be that way, don't mess with what works
It is because the simple substituting of the word dosh with the much less contentious word benefits takes the venom out of the title while fundamentally nothing changes, that I supported the suggestionDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
