''Please Don't Move/Hide Away This Thread On The Site Feedback Board, Where Very Few People Who It Is Actually Relevant To Will See It!''.

Also, not that long ago there was an Official MSE News Article titled Disability Handouts.....

That was So Wrong in many ways!

The term Handouts has a Negative Connotation.

The implication is that a handout is unearned and undeserved, unlike a "donation" or "contribution".

MSE should not be implying such things!

Disability & Dosh Should Be Renamed As Soon As Possible....

Disability & Benefits would be a more appropriate Forum Title, and would help to show that MSE is unbiased towards it's Less Able Bodied and Sick users!

Can anybody else thing of a more suitable name for this board?

Based on this thread I'd suggest "Disability & Moaning"....

    In your opinion.

I'm sure most people see it as it is. A lighthearted title for a serious topic.

This Board was named by 'Martin?', long before the Tory Governments 3 years of rhetoric against Disabled people on benefits. Their vile Propaganda has been aided and abetted by the Tabloid Press!

Disability Hate Crime has increased as a result.

Disabled and Sick people are constantly made to feel like unworthy scroungers!

Benefit Bashers frequent this board to have a dig at people claiming their Just Entitlements.

Being Disabled and/or Sick should not been seen as a bonus, and a perk into which you can receive extra 'free handouts'.

As i said before, even MSE has once, fallen into this 'trap?' and done a News Article describing Disability Benefits as Handouts!

It should be remembered that some people don't just Bash disabled people verbally, they also put into practice in the streets too!

So how about something like the "be nice to disabled people" board?

    Would that be less patronising?

I don't like any of the suggested names - those are patronising.

Disability related money saving could work but it's a bit lengthy and no one seems to have minded about the board name until now?

Why not call it "the not really diasbled board according to the government, so lets help you out with some advice on what money you can get" board.

Maybe that would suit it better.
  • Yes .. .. it should be changed. I always thought it was badly named London-centric 70's slang, a Richard Branson Virgin-esque embarrassingly inappropriate attempt at a trendy title. Even in those pre-benefit bashing days, up to a couple of years ago it did attract openly mercenary greedy scroungers and trolls in equal quantities. That 'greedy scroungers' element to a very large extent has now moderated, but the title remains.

DOSH & Occy Health are 'A'-ppropriate slang names for the Department of Occupational Safety and Health.

Dosh always puts me in mind of Harry Enfield and 'loadsamoney'.
One would expect a site worth £87million could find a more appropriate term.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
