Should this forum be renamed? Disability & 'DOSH' is Patronising Slang!

what has annoyed me from the very start of this board is that it is widely used for benefit related questions,shame really when there is a perfectly good benefits forum already on mse,perhaps the board guides should start to move them?
as for the name of this forum,it hasnt been a problem so far !

I don't think it is patronising but I do think it is a silly name. But then so are many of the other boards - "Grabbit", "Debtfree Wannabe" etc.

I wouldn't call it disability and benefits -makes it sound like disability is all about benefits and nothing else. The few times I've been on here asking questions it's been financial/other questions relating to disability that are nothing to do with benefits.

I actually agree with this 100% - if you look at where the board's positioned - within "For Who & Where you are" - it really shouldn't have much to do with benefits - those should be on the benefit board.

That being the case, a name like
"living with disabilities" may seem appropriate - but then there's no fiscal angle there...which is, ultimately, the point of the site...So if there's the "student moneysaving" board - maybe this should be "disabled moneysaving" - or "disability and money"...then, really, the only dispute is about the use of the word "dosh" - which is a bit informal and slangy, but as cockaleekee points out, it's entirely consistent with the naming convention accross the site.

So in summary - no, the name is fine.

But we did get rid of the "Silver Surfers" nonemclature after a long, hard struggle.;), and tagging moneysavers as 'mad', 'maniac' etc.
