Sick as a small hospital this week. Bloomin' tonsils. Have done zero cooking since Friday - hubs has been on soup and toasted sandwich duty
€50.72 going on my total now.
Lots of fresh soups, sliced bread, a pint of fancy ice cream (tonsils deserve it, eh?) fresh orange juice on Monday and a top up shop today of fruit and veg, spread, soy milk, frozen chips, nakd bars and lunch things for next week. So much convenience food (for us) over the last week and couldn't get over the price of it. Nearly fell over at the cost of branded frozen chips! Have no idea how people afford to fill their trollies with ready meals and the like every week (in money or health terms).

Hi folks. I really must get back into doing the GC each month. I seem to focus so much better when I am doing it. Then I think I have got everything sorted and go it alone and end up spending more.
I am going to have a good look over the first page and the recipes and try out some new ones over the next week or so. I am aiming to spend £50 or less between now and the end of the month.0 -
Did have to buy a birthday gift but that comes out another budget, so for the GC I did have another NSD today! And hopefully tomorrow as well.
But the weekend and early next week will be more expensive, as we have visitors staying with us for a couple of days. We will probably go out for lunch/dinner on some days (different budget) but will also need some extra food. Freezer is already stocked with HM bread and cakes, and will see if I can pick up some nice offers in the sm
Salmon kedgeree for dinner last night, tonight HM pizza and tomorrow toad in the hole.
Have a nice evening!0 -
£1.29 spent on milk today as it was running low.
Dinner is veggie hot dogs in YS hot dog rolls with potato wedges, because I'm too hungry to cook properly! The freezer is actually not bursting at the seams anymore, but I now feel the urge to cook more things to fill it with :rotfl: I have some swede and sweet potato that needs mashing and freezing, so may do that tonight.0 -
spent 8.17 today on the following
1.79 on earl grey with vanilla teabags (50) -treat for me, half for at work and half for home
1.64 on bacon

0.50 on kiwis (4)

0.75 on frozen mixed veg
1on bananas (5)
0.99 on an easter egg for bf (hidden at work for now haha)
100% sure now that i have everything i need to get through to the end of next week. I'm having two weeks off bread as i feel like I've had more than enough recently so theres a saving and i have frozen ham for next week
soup, jelly and fruit for lunches for me at work
making a list as i am considering doing a monthly shop next month to stock up on everything at once and maybe get it delivered or make bf go with me haha. fruit/veg may have to be topped up but i can live with that!************************************

OH has now done two shops and we are up to budget. Our new month begins on the 19th as that is payday, so only have to last four more days. I think we can do it. Just missing some tinned tomatoes for DS birthday on Tuesday as he wants meatball bolognese and crumble. All else should be ok.Grocery Challenge (2 adults 2 kids)

Aargh - another £12 in ald* which was not planned  popped in for flowers for dd's piano teacher and picked up some "essentials" !! as well as a few bags of mini eggs - this is where I fall off the wagon - I can cut my 'main shop' but end up topping up again and again when I go to shops for one thing ! Hopefully it will balance out before the month end !. FEB GC £255.82£240 :mad::mad:

Evening,
Another NSD here :j:j
Amazing what a bit of meal planning & forward thinking does to keep you out the shops.
I'm really really pleased with how my month is going on this challenge, hopefully it's not beginners luck & will continue each month :rotfl:
We had chicken casserole, mash & veg for dinner. It was lovely but my hopes for leftovers vanished thanks to my dustbin of a dd :rotfl:
For a 7yr old, that girl can eat. Not sure where she puts it all though.
Friday is usually shopping day but I'm going to try & last until at least Sunday.
Have a great evening all.
