    Debt-free and Proud!

I've just paid £200 to the car loan, leaving the balance at £5000. I've essentially paid off the £500 interest which was added to the loan, although this will be reduced when the loan is paid off early.

This payment brings my targets and challenges into line. As things stand i owe £2500/£5000 on our joint loan and £5000/£5000 on the car loan. I've ignored the interest so i have a nice round number to work with :D (yes i have OCD tendancies). So:

    Current Debt: £7500
    Payments Made: £2500/£10000
    1%=£100

For my birthday i was given a beautiful 18 month paperch*se diary (June 2013 to the end of 2014). I intend to PLAN PLAN PLAN and use this daily. In the notes section i noticed some squared paper so i've redrawn my % progress squares :).

The 1st box represents becoming debt free and has 100 squares, 25 coloured in. The 2nd is my ISA and has 1 square of 10 coloured, the 3rd is the joint savings goal and has 10 uncoloured squares and finally the 4th, most important box, is the the baby fund. This has 30 uncoloured squares. Fingers crossed that by the time the diary is finished all the squares will be coloured :)

I have also entered the 12th 1 Debt vs 100 Days challenge to try and clear the joint loan. The deadline for this challenge is 14th August and i had forcast the loan to be cleared in September - it'll be tight!

PS. according to my spreadsheet its 333 days to my debt free date target of April 2014!

Sigh. I was meant to be going camping this weekend but I was ill Friday night so couldn't go incase I had a bug :(, I'm ok now but I didn't want to risk making everyone else ill. OH went on his own to meet up with people and I went to stay at my mum n dads for a few days. Cue sympathy and me feeling sorry for myself. Oh well atleast I've spent some quality time with my mum :)

These next few months seem complicated debt wise. All I want to do is pay everything off but life demands other things be paid too. We have a holiday to pay £500 to by July and £365 car insurance also to be paid next month. This means I have to put my spare cash towards these and not the loan :(. I also paid the house insurance and tv license at the beginning of the month. Thankfully though once the car insurance and holiday are paid for that's all the annual bills done with for a good while.

Thinking positively, come July it'll just be the loan and car left to pay and come September just the car! I like the simplicity of this - although it's by far the biggest debt but ill only have 1 thing to pay/budget/project for. September is also when we go on holiday - bring it on :D

    Holiday: 0/£500
    Car insurance: 0/£365

    Figures update:

    Holiday: 25/500
    Insurance: 0/365
    Loan: 2500/5000
    Car: 0/5000

My newest money idea is a virtual money box. Ive noticed some people on here round down their accounts and put the odd pence in an account to build up. As a lover of round amounts, i thought this would suit me :D and so i'm giving it a bash.

    Virtual Piggy Bank: £2.12

Hopefully this can go towards some euros in September or Christmas :xmassmile

    Hello diary,

June is already here! Its beautifully sunny and warm outside

    Scores on the doors:

    Debts: (28% paid)
    Loan: £2650/£5000 53% paid
    Car: £150/£5000 3% paid

    Holiday: £300/£500

    Savings:
    Virtual Piggy Bank: £7.84
    Christmas Piggy Bank: £1

The Christmas piggy bank is a new idea - basically between 1st June and the 1st November there are 153 days and i have a Christmas budget of £150. See where i'm going with this? Basically i'm going to save £1 a day. I've drawn a new chart to colour in to keep track of my progress :)

I also have £365 in savings for the car insurance to be paid the beginning of July.

In terms of debt repayments this month - the payments arent going to be too big. We had a big spend yesterday on a new duvet, bed set, pillows, kitchen utensils, dish drainer.... rock n roll. We've decided to stop being so strict with ourselves this month as we are still young and we arent at a stage where i'm willing to go without pillows :rotfl: Instead we're going to price up how much the garden will cost to get it looking beautiful. The garden has been on our to do list for 3 years and it was getting us down thinking it would be another year looking at the mess.

    Monthly Challenges:

NSK May #07: Food £57/£60 Petrol £48/£100 Spends £46/£30 SFD 16/21 Money made £300/£500 - over on spends but under everything else, i can live with that.

    NSK June (Sparta) #03: Food 0/£50 Spends 0/£20 Treat 0/£10 SFDs 20

Still on track to be DF by my 26th birthday - 304 days to go!

As the title suggests i've suffered a little hiccup on my debt free journey, entirely self inflicted, but for the right reasons.

I quit my job. I hadn't been there long but long enough to know they were doing some pretty dodgy financial things and i didn't want to be a part of it. So I handed in my notice 2 weeks ago (having spent 1 week "sick" stressed out and trying to decide my fate) and frantically spent the subsequent week rewriting my cv and signing up with every agency going. I had an interview last Thursday and was offered a job :D major phew.

All this means that DF :money: matters went out the window. I even went out more than usual due to being panicked and stressed out. So, i've abandoned my christmas £1 challenge and round-down account for now to get things back on track. Our holiday in September was fully paid off before things started getting messy.

    As things stand:

    My overdraft: £250
    Joint overdraft: £500
    Credit card: £500

    Loan: £2350 remaining
    Car: £4650 remaining

The ODs and CC will be cleared in the next 2 months. The loan by November, and fingers crossed the car by April 2014. The job change meant my pay changed from weekly to monthly and i effectively went unpaid for 3 weeks.

I've also chosen to begin my diet this week :) as i'm feeling positive. This setback is just a blip and i'm confident i can get things back on track :T.

See you all at the end of month for scores on the doors

    :hello:

It is once again time for my traditional 1st of the month post :)

    Scores on the doors:

    Debts

    [STRIKE]My overdraft: £250[/STRIKE]
    Joint overdraft: £500
    Credit card: £550

    Loan: £2800/£5000
    Car: £350/£5000

I'm really pleased to have cleared my overdraft off more or less straightaway. The joint OD will be gone at the end of this month.

    Monthly Challenges:

NSK June (Sparta) #03: Food £52/£50, Spends Too much! Treat £10/£10, SFDs 16/20
    NSK July (J.U.L.Y.) #09: Food £50, Petrol £30, Spends £40, SFDs 20

I am determined to be a teachers pet this month in the challenge as i lost track of June due to job hoo-hah.

Well tonight i am going to my first ever slimming world evening. Bit nervous as dont really know what to expect but Im just too chunky atm. Its affecting my self esteem a bit so i'm determined to do something about it! Perhaps i might even incorporate it into my signature if i'm brave enough!

    Hello diary! How are you?

Whilst daydreaming today at work i decided on my 2014 money plan :D

It goes a little something like this....

    2014

    Jan: £800 car repayment
    Feb: £800 car repayment
    March: £800 car repayment
Apr: £? (settlement for car and become DEBT FREE!!!)

May-Dec: £500 baby account £125 single savings per month.

Then, by the end of 2014 i'll be debt free, have a £4k baby fund and £1k emergency fund.

Just got to make sure i stick to my budgets and plans until then :D

ETA: as the joint loan will be gone by the end of 2013, we'll also be making £150pm into a joint savings account for insurances, 1 off bills etc :)
