I have decided today that i want to be under 11st for my holiday in 6 weeks. This equates to just under 4 pounds a week. Doable? Probably not but i want to aim high!
So to achieve this:
1. No McDs (my downfall).
2. No full fat coke - switch to coke zero if really needed to try to avoid.
3. Portion control.
4. Cut back on work canteen food.
5. Go to the gym 3 times a week.
Wish me luck!
ETA: i posted on the roll of honour and now have a debt free badge

Good luck with the weight loss Jonsey, I'm sure you can do it!
I'm also on a bit of a weightloss regime, no more chocolate snacks at work for me! Apart from one on fridays.
Yay for the badge!0 -
The diet is not going well, i had beautiful buttery crumpets and work today and mistrels after my tea! My excuse is that it's month end so i'm a bit tired and grumpy (yes i work for a company who has a month end which isn't actually at the end of the month!)
Finance-wise, OH's CC is all paid offso just his loan left for him now.

Month end is definitely time for crumpets. No one can blame you for that. :j
Fantastic news about the cc! You're just powering through them.0 -
Hey Peaty!
Hope you're doing well.
Only a quick check in as gbbo is on and i want to give it my full attention!
Decided as Christmas is approaching i'm going to join the Make your Christmas Spending Money Challenge - 17 weeks to go, raising £10 a week. Should be doable and £170 should pretty much cover my presents too.

Is it really 17 weeks? Well done on the saving plan, are you including loyalty points? And looking at the end of season sales? Toy sets and my personal favourite socks are often on sale around now. As are stationary things.
Gbbo?0 -
Hello Diary - it's been a while!
Apologies for neglecting my duties but I have several [STRIKE]reasons[/STRIKE] excuses:- I have been very busy with work and college.
- I have been on holiday :cool2:.
- I did reply to you Peaty saying amongst other things that "gbbo" is Great British Bake Off (and is on tonight!
). When i found out it hadn't posted I sulked and decided in my stroppiness not to do my 1st of the month post which was late anyway.
It is also 12 weeks until Santa! :xmassmile - I haven't kept up with my Christmas challenge though- to be honest i've been working hard on house savings, and we're trying to buy bits as we go along which are thought based over price tag (I try to do this anyway but i'm trying extra hard this year). So the presents are coming out of our normal monthly misc budgets, which in a way means Christmas is "free"!
House update - the new one is delayed. Seriously delayed. As in, Dec 2015. I don't want to wait that long and i'm rapidly going off it anyway. Having sold our other house we have increased purchasing power and every month our deposit increases. I'm seeing houses which excite me which the delayed one isn't doing anymore. Due to the delay our £1k deposit is being returned - OH is chasing this up this week.
Goals wise - I did clean up the spare room, we did pay off OHs CC but weight is still getting me down. I might join SW with the girls from work.
October Goals:- Study Study Study
- Hit £22k target for the house deposit (going to be tough).
(btw I'm loving the list button/function - has it always been there?)
So time for scores on the doors:
VSP 2014: £668
Deposit: £20,000
House Savings: £300
SPC 7: ??
CCC 2014: £70 - tbh i've stopped focussing on this as I only really buy clothes when I have a "need" for them.
DFBXmas: £3500/£3500 100% -PAID, restarted for OH £1400/£5000 28%
Hopefully I won't leave it so long until my next post!:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:

:xmassmileHELLO DIARY!
It's been a while.
I took an MSE break whilst doing my exams (in Nov) and now I'm back on the band wagon. Finance-wise, it's more important than ever to manage the pennies as we've found our dream house! Slight snag - it's over budget. But doable. We just need to really pull things in tight. Fingers crossed for the valuation this week.
:xmassign:
I'll be back for my 2014 rundown/results and no doubt more promises to visit more in 2015

Nice to see your name Jones! Best of luck with the exams & all things house related!Sealed Pot Challenge:

Aww thank you
I am getting firmly back into the mse swing of things. Had a chat with hubby last night about paying off his loan - although he wants it gone he isn't financially proactive so we sat down and made a plan for it to be paid off by the end of 2015 (approx Nov). We set up a standing order for the overpayments and I instantly feel better for having a plan in place and a set time frame.
Basically both of us really want a family, and are looking to start trying in 2015. I refuse to have the loan hanging around when we will be down to 1 income. We also agreed we need to save (ideally £3k) for when I'm on maternity pay. The saving won't begin until we move though, as we need to confirm the house budget.
Plan in numbers:- £240 extra payment before Christmas to bring the OS bal to exactly £3k
- £135 a month normal DD
- £115 SO for OP
- Ring in Nov to get settlement, should save around a years worth of interest
I'm currently sat at home with the dreaded lurgy so watching "A Muppet Christmas Carol" to cheer myself up - it's my ultimate Christmas film! :xmassmile
