Bedroom Tax and kids living away??

As you're new to this, it might be worth pointing out that nannytone has only moved to her current flat quite recently - it isn't her long term family home.
Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. I'm only posting here as I happen to have a bit of unexpected time on my hands.
On the other hand, if someone's sight is deteriorating then every house move will be progressively more difficult. Blindness is one of a few conditions which do make relocating/moving particularly difficult.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

i suppose at your age you would consider 18 months to be recent.
and i'm still getting used to it.
still regularly misjudge where i am exactly and walk into a very sharp corner, and the bathroom door can be particularly spiteful.
and that is considering that my sight has lessened sugnificantly SINCE i moved here.0 -

But we all have to make sacrifices!!The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0 -
the fact that i will have to use my DLA for things other than its intended use means that the money i now use to make sure i can get out and about will have to be cut!
But that applies to everyone who has seen their income drop, and if it means a roof over your head, in an area you feel comfortable in, isn't the security worth far more than a couple of gallons of petrol?

people facing the reduction in housing benefit have an additional cost over and above those that everyone else is experiencing is experiencing.
so no .... not everyone claiming DLA is affected in the same way0 -

How so? My very expensive rent has risen by over £100 a month in the last year and is due to rise again in April.
It's not unusual for the area I live in so moving would only add commuting costs, leaving us even worse off. Not to mention give us less free time.
Believe me, we've looked at all the different options and the only answer is to cut back, like many other people.
We don't claim DLA but I doubt it makes much diference, the family next door who do claim DLA are in a similar position.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

Are you disabled though jayII?
Also are landlords able to raise the rent by so much? Or are you in the SH sector I'm a bit confused? The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0 -

How is that relevant, since the thread is about bedroom tax and kids living away?
Not to mention that nannytone was replying to this post:SandraScarlett wrote: »But that applies to everyone who has seen their income drop, and if it means a roof over your head, in an area you feel comfortable in, isn't the security worth far more than a couple of gallons of petrol?

Private rental.
Landlords can raise rent by as much as they want as long as it's not in the middle of a fixed term contract. It's their house at the end of the day.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

Well only because you raised DLA and your neighbor that's why I was a bit confused so yes it is relevant to the bedroom tax discussion because it primarily affects people or families with a disability.
Yes the thread has moved well away from it's original topic.
I agree that people in the private sector rented are just as hard hit, if not worse so as they are at the mercy of private landlords. The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0
