the bottom line is that I have the best interests of my children at heart nothing more and nothing less. The relationship with my mother is dead and buried even though some of you may find that difficult to understand.I am not motivated by personal gain, vengeance or greed.I would just like a grandparent whose declared intention was to save for her grandchildren to honour that
You say your mother declared that she INTENDED to save for her grandchildren ....often one may intend to do something, but life intervenes and that is all that the intentions can be........
The road to hell is paved with good intentions!0 -
quite agree- but do you not think that we should fight for what we see as right0

It is not your children's right to have your mother's money.
If your mother chooses to gift it to them all well & good.
Instead of being bitter & teaching your children to be bitter & grasping you could encourage them to look to their futures & to save their own money.
Bitterness is futile as it doesn't hurt the person you are bitter at.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -

In one word - NO! You and your mother are estranged. It would seem that your children are also estranged from their grandmother. We don't know the reasons for your estrangement, nor is it necessary for us to know the whys and wherefores.
So why should you have a "right" to money from someone who is to all intents a stranger?
Well - that's my opinion!0 -
thanks for your support ribena- can I ask any of you who are grandparents what you would do if your grandchildren were struggling and you had the means of helping them even if you had a feud with your son- would you cast them aside?0
