You've been asked several times but still haven't answered, do your children have a relationship or contact of any kind with your mother?

thanks for your support ribena- can I ask any of you who are grandparents what you would do if your grandchildren were struggling and you had the means of helping them even if you had a feud with your son- would you cast them aside?

I am a grandparent and that would depend on the relationship with the grandchildren.

We most certainly will not leave any of our money to anyone we do not have a relationship with just because they are 'family'.

bit harsh? may as well give the money to the teenager standing on the street corner

Where on earth do you (and others like you) get this sense of "entitlement" from? You obviously do not like Gran very much, and probably the feeling is mutual, the problem is that you continue to believe that your children are somehow disconnected from this whole situation - which they are not.
We had an aunt die recently, and she left money to my dad and sister but not me. The fact is, that the aunt did not come to my wedding (even though she was invited) and we never kept in touch, so why should I have expected her to leave me anything, because to me she was just like any other stranger.
You and gran have fallen out, and you have to realise that has changed the whole situation.
  • Trouble is you don't know whosename the money was saved in (if it ever existed - your mum could be lying/manipulating the situation for all we know :( ).
We don't know where the money is either.
Even if it was saved in your childrens names and legally belonged to your children or was in a legal trust fund I have no idea how you'd prove it. What if she'd spent it?
Frankly as galling as it is I honestly don't see how you can get any money back for your kids.

So at one point their gran said she would give them money - you had a large family feud and she changed her mind. It was never the children's money in the money in the first place - it was your mother's. They are not 'entitled' to it, and since they don't seem to have made much effort to keep up a relationship with her then why should she help them out financially just because they're related?

By the same reasoning in 10 years time when your children are hopefully in well paid jobs can Gran ring up and expect them to help pay her bills/care costs, despite them having no relationship in the meantime, just because they're 'family'?

I'm sorry but your children are now adults and should be supporting themselves, not chasing handouts from their gran.
