And it seems to be only the ones who didn't get anything who are bitter about it.

Seems, based on your total inability to imagine that others have different values to you. :rotfl: I chose to no longer celebrate Valentine's day at about 17 or 18 because identikit, conveyor belt 'romance' leaves me cold, so being single (also by choice) is irrelevant.

Personally the nicest flowers I have ever received were single daffodils picked from gardens/ verges exactly one year apart. No special day, other than the second being the anniversary of the first.

You are probably right PoppyOscar, but it makes me mad when people get in a tizzy because flowers didn't arrive on the correct day.

I just want people to think why they react to certain dates like Pavlov's dogs, and pay twice the amount for tat.

When Martin went on radio to suggest "why not do without SOME xmas pressies" it was like a breath of fresh air.

And most of all....I am an argumentative old bint :) best reasons at heart, but I do wonder at those that do stuff, just because they are told to by Hallmark etc.

You obviously did not read my previous post.

It's really not anyone's business if people want to celebrate certain days or how many presents they want to buy at Christmas for that matter.

I would hate to live my life being that cynical about things.

I did read your previous post Gregg, and appreciate you do things thoughout the year.....maybe I am cynical, but when you hear the Retail Figures depending on Christmas, Valentines, Easter etc figures, you know the whole meaning of celebratory dates have been grabbed by the moneymakers: which saddens me.

But why should it sadden and annoy you so much?

No one forces people to go shopping. It is a personal choice.

A lot of people do not have religious views but still enjoy Christmas.

We need to have shops making money in order to keep people in work.

Wouldn't it be great if we all spread our Christmas shopping throughout the year - that would really screw up the overpaid fatuous economists  I know it won't happen, but I would love to screw up their "predictions".

I hate being told to do things, and even get narky with the car, possible icy roads - bingly beep, fasten seat belts - beep beep, reversing sensors - bip bip bip biiiiip, low on fuel - bong.

Oh Sally you are such a spoil sport;)

Going shopping at christmas is about the only time I actually enjoy shopping.

I love the atmosphere, the carol singers, the Sally Army band. Last year they had a band playing bagpipes and reindeer for the children to pet, it was wonderful.

If I hear bagpipes warming up, I can clear 3 miles quicker than Usain Bolt!

It was the first time I had ever seen a bagpipe band and I really enjoyed it.

Tbf, I'd rather get spoiled in the sales than only get half the stuff in December. I ask him not to buy me stuff at Christmas and to wait, but he always insists on making sure i habe presents to open on Christmas day. As it is, he works to support me, why waste more of the money we have coming in, when I can have the same stuff, two weeks later for half the price?

But that's your choice. Personally i hate the idea of being treated in the sales because it seems more about cost cutting than anything else. But that's just my personal opinion. If people want to celebrate valentines and pay over inflated prices that's up to them!
    Chocolate shoots up at Easter
Ice cream prices rocket in the Summer
Multipacks of sweets literally double over Halloween
Don't even get me started on Xmas!

We don't see threads popping up ''My neighbour bought 3 packs of Haribo share bags on October 30th. She should have waited until November 1st. What an idiot!!''

But yet those who go along with Valentines are labelled sheep?

Next time I see someone buying the overpriced 3 pack of Creme eggs ill be sure to shoot them the filthiest look possible in honour of this thread.

Yes, it's fine to be annoyed, but some people have gone above and beyond annoyed, and into the realm of raving loony.
Sometimes unforeseen circumstances occur. If the company don't rectify the situation appropriately (at worst, refund within 30 days from date of cancellation) then fine, but it's been 4 days. Chill out.

Not sure about the raving loony part. I haven't seen anyone threaten suicide over this yet but perhaps they're still to come.

Unforeseen circumstances. Absolutely. But that doesn't stop people having the right to good old whinge without being labelled as some sort of romantically challenged ape.

Sally you had better not read the thread still going on about this company.

Flowers promised next day still not arrived and some arrived today looking worse for wear I understand.

    It just gets worse.
