Stop whingeing!!!!!!
Are you such sheep that you have to follow Hallmark and other tatty companies in giving your partner a gift on 14th Feb?
What about the other 360+ days of the year - quite frankly, a bunch of flowers on a dreary October day (twice the amount, half the price), totally out of the blue, means so much more than a limp bouquet on14th Feb.
Men....some ideas, as I know you have no imagination.
Cook a meal - only once a month, when you know she is stressed, late home from work.
A bunch of flowers - say 3 times a year, at random times - not because you are seeking forgiveness, but just out of the blue.
A massage, just for the togetherness of it - that doesn't have to lead to sex!!!
Wash and polish her car.
Put fuel (ie brim it) in her car unexpectedly.
Make your own and her packed lunch now and then.
All little things that speak volumes much louder than tat on Valentine's Day.

And if he had brought some home, I would have been a bit snaky, as it wasn't an impulse thing, but an "advertising" thing....and he knows how angry I get about that.0 -
Isn't using a florist to deliver flowers a bit lazy anyway. Get off your fat !!! and go to the florist yourself!
Fairy nuff if she's at the other side of the country, but at least make an effort at your romance.

Well I went in for the sexy underwear
Red thong with frilly stitching,Red peekaboo bra,and very sexy stockings and suspenders.
I laid them out on the bed and invited the wife in telling her I had a surprise for herShe took one look at them turned to me with that look in her eyes and said "Dont tell me your going out wearing them again tonight, the judge told you the next time you were caught you were going to jail"........:D:D

We don't even bother with valentines besides a card. We might get a takeaway or something but thats it.
To be honest I'm a great boyfriend all year round, don't need a special day to prove myself0 -
Totally agree with you. I get lots of little cute/jokey/meaningful presents throughout the year, and I much prefer this to the commercialism of valentines day.
I can't stand people who b*tch and moan that their present hasn't arrived on time, like it somehow makes the present any less enjoyable. I guess it's no longer the thought that counts.
My Facebook was full of smug "look what my bf/gf got me for valentines day" pictures. All but one were photos of almost identical bunches of roses. The other was a bunch of carnations and a box of chocs. Nothing imaginative, nothing that made me think "wow, that's nice/sweet/an awesome surprise."
My friends boyfriend recently surprised her with a day out at the safari park, picnic and all with cakes, sandwiches, snacks etc all made by him, and all her favourites. There was no reason, no special occasion, just a nice day together, doing something different for the hell of it. That was sweet.
Sometimes my OH runs me a bubble bath, lights candles etc and takes the kids out for an hour or so for a cake at the local cafe. It's nothing huge or expensive, but it's just fab.
There are 365-366 days in a year, each one counts!0 -
I see...
So they are not allowed to vent but you are?0 -

They can vent all they like. It's just a shame that advertising makes people do romantic things on one day of the year (when prices are doubled - this is a money saving forum remember), whereas random acts throughout the year would be much more appreciated.0 -

Why do you think anyone celebrating Valentine's day would not be romantic at any other time of year?
I let my wife know throughout the year how much she means to me. Why then would I not do that also on Valentine's day. That would be rather odd if I ignored it!0 -
Yeah, someone who has purchased a service- in this case flowers delivered on Feb 14th, have no rights to moan do they when they don't get what they paid for, nor do the company take sufficient action to remedy their failure!0
