Yeah, someone who has purchased a service- in this case flowers delivered on Feb 14th, have no rights to moan do they when they don't get what they paid for, nor do the company take sufficient action to remedy their failure!

If you've read the complaints, most of the failures were down to different companies having issues receiving flower supplies from abroad, and shipments being delayed.
The main one on here was Arena Flowers, who not only doubled everyone's order for delivery on the 15th, but have also automatically refunded all affected customers 50% of the price. On top of which, anyone who emails them prior to close of business Monday will receive the further 50% of their order cost as well as keeping the flowers.
Then I believe Debenhams were offering the flowers on the 15th, plus 50% refund and some vouchers.
I think the issue was that people were going on like they'd lost a limb because flowers were arriving 24 hours late. Whilst it may be slightly disappointing, I'm sure most people would understand and still be grateful to their OH anyway.
A lot of people were going mad and threatening to sue/calling companies thieves/acting like the world was ending. A little perspective, and realising that love and romance are about more than a bunch of overpriced flowers arriving in a specified 24 hour period would have done certain people a world of good.

They failed to deliver on the 14th, 15th or 16th, let alone doubling anything

but have also automatically refunded all affected customers 50% of the price.

Nobody has been automatically refunded anything, they claim they are going to start processing them next week.

On top of which, anyone who emails them prior to close of business Monday will receive the further 50% of their order cost as well as keeping the flowers.

MSE article states this but NOT acknowledged by Arena

So erm, yea - they are a bunch of cowboys who are failing massively even now to even communicate on any level with their customers. The world doesn't end, just prompts people to come discuss such things on a forum designed for such a purpose and which shares a hand in most of the people placing their orders with Arena in the first place.

Nothing says "I love you" like some whoopsie flowers from some company allowed to advertise on monkey saving experts with all the arm chair financial advisors

Men....some ideas, as I know you have no imagination.

Cook a meal - only once a month, when you know she is stressed, late home from work.
A bunch of flowers - say 3 times a year, at random times - not because you are seeking forgiveness, but just out of the blue.
A massage, just for the togetherness of it - that doesn't have to lead to sex!!!
    Wash and polish her car.
Put fuel (ie brim it) in her car unexpectedly.
Make your own and her packed lunch now and then.

All little things that speak volumes much louder than tat on Valentine's Day.

This reminds of those hilarious 1950s advertising posters with for example a woman hugging a brand new Hoover while her smiley husband stands in the background. Chuffed with himself for buying his wife her dream present.

I can only assume you're the same type of 'little woman' if you think your OH filling your car up is a romantic treat.

And yet I know two people who received their bouquets from Arena 24 hours later on the 15th. Judging by the photos on FB, they were both well made bouquets.

Don't start with semantics, the company will be refunding 50% of the order. They have said when they are doing this, too. Just because it wasn't done immediately, it doesn't mean it won't be done. So far, they've dedicated all their staff to answering emails.
I don't know if you've tried communicating via Facebook, but on Saturday morning at 1am there was somebody running the page and replying within minutes. They also explained that people should email once, as any further emails would push their thread back.

I have used Arena Flowers many times in the past, usually for Mother's Day and birthday flowers for the monster in law, and she always comments on how fab the flowers are, and sends us photos a couple of weeks later to show how long they last. They always arrive on time, and she's always thrilled. I know she's being honest as well, as if there was a fault with the flowers, she'd find it immediately and lord it over me for buying carp flowers.

Yes, this has been a total disaster for this company, but it's hardly their fault their flower shipment didn't arrive on time.

Personally, I think they're trying their best to rectify the situation. They're not helped by the fact their courier is useless, but they're trying.
Anyone who paid by PayPal can also open a dispute, and by all accounts those that have have been refunded already.

They estimate 5% of orders were affected, which considering how many orders they would get for this date is a large number, but a small percentage.

Yeah and what's wrong with a massage that leads to sex? :rotfl:

Bought from them or work for them LOL.

16 staff on emails nobody answering phones - considering I still haven't received ANY communication from them I think they needed more.

Paypal disputes? let's see what they say about that:

Facebook: You are of course welcome to do that, but please be aware that Paypal disputes can take 45 days to resolve during which they hold the funds and we are unable to refund you. We are processing refunds as fast as we can and plan to have a batch of the 50% refunds done early next week and then other refunds.

Twitter: I can see you have opened a paypal dispute. That means we can't now refund or deliver until they resolve. Sorry.

And this is what paypal say:

By opening a dispute, a buyer is asking for your help to resolve a problematic transaction before escalating it to a PayPal claim or filing a credit card chargeback. Common reasons for opening a dispute include:

•They haven't received the purchased item.
•The item received is significantly different from your description.

You can communicate directly with the buyer to clear up any misunderstandings and resolve the issue. If you agree to a solution, PayPal protects you if the buyer later files a chargeback.
  • Sally A we have every right to get what we pay for whenever and whatever that may be, obviously you don't do Xmas on 25 th dec either oh what a happy house you have, and from the tone of your rant back obviously not getting any either

Firstly, the opening line of your post shows you have now descended into the idiocy of "if you disagree with me and side with the company you must work for them."
To clarify, I do not work for Arena Flowers, never have, & I don't know anyone that does.
If you look on Facebook there were a few posts on one of the statuses saying "I opened a dispute and have been refunded"

One huge hug a day shows more love and respect for your partner than a once a year bunch of flowers dictated by a calendar and ordered over the internet
