    Good afternoon everyone :hello:

No, I'm not missing in action......... just can't believe how busy I've been! It doesn't help that DH is hijacking the computer every evening because of his exams. His final exam (of this qualification) is on 22nd May, so he's revising like a good 'un. :) However, if it means that his next job will pay more, then I'm all for it! :D

I'm typing this in front of the tv whilst watching "Murder She Wrote". They're supposed to be in Ireland, but the Irish accent seems to be drowned out by poor American actors. :rotfl:

We're hop, skip and jumping off to Leicester very shortly. My "boys" are playing in the semi-final of the league this afternoon, so we have to be there to encourage them. :D Because DH and I stand, we have to get there semi-early. Last week we didn't get there early enough, so were forced to stand behind "tall woman", "the gobby girls " (two girls who love the sound of their own voice and rarely actually watch the match, other than to wolf whistle at various men walking past) and "obnoxious bloke". Does anyone else on here give people "names"? Or is it just us? :o

I'm going down to London tomorrow. My friend (she was also one of my bridesmaids) hasn't been able to walk properly for the past two weeks as her leg has seized up. She had polio when she was a baby and the docs think that it relates back to that. Still not very nice. So, I'm going to East Dulwich tomorrow - her parents live in Peckham Rye, so I might see them too. However, I had planned to go on the train........ only to find that being a Bank Hol weekend, I would have had to go via Luton, taking a grand total of 3 hours, when it should take just over 1hr. Instead, I'm driving down to north London and parking outside another friend's house. So much for trying to be green!:o

We've just had soup for lunch. Supper for when we get back from the rugby will be spag bol. The bolognese sauce (well, I think it's bolognese sauce!) is defrosting, so we'll be fully prepared for a quick turn around when we get back.

Better go to beautify myself for my "boys".

    Bye for now.

    Vicky

    Afternoon

Been feeling a bit down today - lack of money gets to me every now and then. Have been very up and down emotionally and not getting any of the things done I wanted to this weekend, now I'm worrying I might have come off my anti-depressants too soon, which makes me feel worse, which creates a viscious circle of feeling pants. Keep telling myself its just cos I feel under the weather anyway. Wish I could earn more money, I don't regret becoming self employed but it can make it difficult to pay bills when your customers don't pay you on time or you just don't have enough customers in the first place!

Moan over, time to be positive again:D

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely sunshine :T

DD is just about to picked up from her 3hr drama/singing/dance class:rolleyes: then we are round friends at 5 for a BBQ (hopefully inside in the warmth):D

Have made a small list of jobs that need doing next week to keep me focused and if anyone is interested this weeks mealplan rota is up;)

Anyway, Id best go as I need a cuppa and biccie.

    Hugs

You wont have jetlag when you get to Florida, for the first couple of days you will probably wake up about 5 in the morning. We have jetlag when we get home but if you are only staying there for a week I shouldnt think it will be as bad.

Just got back from a lovely afternoon with 10yo dd. We went to central london to a sci fi shop to get two new dr who books signed by the authors - she was somewhat surpirsed to find that she was the only child and the only female there but I wasn't. We then popped into the british museum for half an hour and had lunch in a cafe outside. The book signing was something I spotted on londonfreelist.com but after shelling out for travel, lunch and the books it was all actually quite expensive but she is absolutely thrilled. One of the books she paid for herself by bieng my slave for the day (well a pound an hour is pretty much slave labour in my book) and the other I treated her to.
She is now making a dalek cake with her dad which, looking at it the ingredients, seems to be pretty much a chocolate fest. He spent nearly twenty quid on ingredients and a cake tin (why I don't know as i do have several of these)

VickyA - I laughed so much at your comments about the "fans" me and dd have season tickets for brentford and so the same seats all season. Next year we are going to stand though as we have spent the entire season stuck next to two brothers who stink, listen to radios all through the match and shout out the other scores, and take up more than their allocated space. When the match is boring the one next to me rocks backwards and forwards saying NNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG - pretty much taking me with him because of the lack of space - I realise that all is not well with them but even so . They sit next to me and dd is on the end of the aisle. At the beginning of the season I offered her £20 to swap but she wouldn't - we call them the UnChuckle Brothers. We also have Mr Pundit behind us who knows nothing but thinks he does. it's all blokes around us and they largely ignore us - for example last week one of the strikers didn't have his name on his shirt and the guys behind us were wondering loudly who he was - dd turned round and supplied the answer but they were still speculating some 15 minutes later - what do we know - we're just girls!!!!!!!!
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Afternoon all,

In a sense I envy those of you who are up at crack of dawn...I was like that until I had my breakdown, crash, burnout or whatever last summer...now I could sleep for 12 hours if nobody woke me....DGS2 came in this morning and told me that it was an 'emergency' which is his word this week and that I should get up...but it was 9.30 and I really like to be up earlier than that as I work best in the morning. Needed to go to town to buy underwear as the elastic in almost everything I own seems to have worn out....thought for some wonderful moments that I had lost weight but no such luck! As DD4 and DGS2 came with me the trip took almost 4 hours instead of the one hour I had anticipated...but I don't get to spend too much time with them so it was nice.

Cloudier here to-day but still quite warm the whole garden needs watering, so that will be a couple of hours with a hose later

Brother has invited us for BBQ lunch to-morrow, I will bring salad and bread...lots of salad stuff in garden, so OH can do that shortly before we go and I will make the bread early in the morning and bake just before we leave so that it will be nice and warm when we eat.

Carbonara for late lunch/dinner to-day, must say a big 'thank you' to whoever mentioned Lidls Mishapes (?) on here, I have been buying them ever since. Was a little apprehensive the first time as they were very cheap€1.99)
per kilo, but have been very pleased...nearly always get bacon for Sunday breakfast and two main meals from each packet and that is such good value.

Hugs to all in need, congratulations to all celebrating and enjoy to all those who are off on holiday

Whatever the weather, enjoy your long weekend

Hi all and (((hugs))) for those who need them I’m afraid I haven’t had much time to read through today’s posts properly. Have been shopping then spent the morning prepping for tonight’s dinner then we had visitors this morning and THIS afternoon. Thanks for all the mentions about me falling out of bed! My second-from-last toe on the right foot is all bruised and swollen! It hurts whatever shoes I wear and it feels ridiculous to be limping because of a little toe!
Yes, I’ve been feeling the same about the little girl in Portugal although it feels uncharitable to have those thoughts. Whatever the outcome the parents will always regret leaving them on their own. I’ve been to Portugal and the Portuguese love children – they consider them to be a gift – so they will be baffled as to why they were left unattended. I really hope the little girl is found safe and well but time is running out.
SAMSAM – I hope you’re feeling better now. I know what you mean about being self-employed. My DH (and I suppose, because I help him) and I are self-employed and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s really difficult these days to run a business that way. DH’s customer yesterday was supposed to have paid him £1000.00 stage payment for the work he is doing yet only had £900.00. This particular customer is now swanning round on the Arcadia for a two week cruise and our budget is £100.00 short; DH has had to pay the labourers who worked with him for the week and we have had to juggle with the rest. The chap wouldn’t have got away with it if I’d been there! Anyway, he said we should phone him on the boat if there are any problems and we’ve just checked and it would cost US £3 per minute to phone him or THEM £2.50 to receive an email so you don’t need me to tell you how we’ll be contacting him!
MARY MUNGO – WELCOME TO YOU. You’ll like it here!
MRS MIX – hope DD’s feeling better
CRAZYCHIK – hope things get better for you
JET77 – my DS2 (now 25 years old!) wet the bed every night until he was eight years old; it nearly drove me mad but it did suddenly fall into place with him just overnight so fingers crossed it won’t be long now!
AMIE – hope your weekend is going well and that your mum is feeling better.
ANNIE S - hope things are better for you today. Thinking of you.
I shall feel bad now because I’ve only skimmed the thread today and I usually try and remember the important things going on in all your lives but I know you’ll understand. I’m beginning to wish I’d never planned this dinner tonight! I shall be glad when it’s over. I know I’ll enjoy it when it’s underway because they are good company and we always have a really good time.
Has anyone heard from SMOKY at all?
For those holidaying, have a great time you lucky things! For those anxious or worried or poorly or just in need I send lots of hugs and will come back later if I get a minute to myself!:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Evening all. Thanks to those who wished me a nice day with my mum :D .

Had a lovely day with my mum, two brothers and b gf at Sharpham Vineyard near Totnes. For £3.95 each we could have a walk around the grounds (by the river and through the vineyards) and tasted 5 wines and 4 cheeses....each!! As designated driver I held back, but everyone else had a wonderful time. I love creating new memories such as this and I'm so glad that my birthday gift to my mum was a new set of memories :D .

Just sitting now waiting for my friend to pick me up as we're going for a drink in town. I haven't been out for a while so I might have a couple of shandys! .

meanmarie - I feel that same, strangely jealous of the insomniacs! I'm in a similar situation and could happily stay under my duvet and let the world go by....but I always have to get out of bed eventually!

Penny-Pincher - well done on finishing the essay. After finishing mine last week I decided it was rubbish so I've put in for an extension, hope I get it (fingers crossed).

((((samsampotts)))) Hope you start to feel a bit brighter and your business goes well. I'm sure the customers will start flooding in!

quasar - me as well, you're not alone! I dream of being true OS one day when I can talk about my OH and children keeping me up all night ;)

CatOwen - congrats on your win!

    Mary Mungo - hello :hello:

Ooh, I think that's my friend at the door....had better go. Hi to everyone else.

Just popped back in to say thx to any1 who's posted about my DD1's bedwetting problem. I'm crying again - can't stop 2day - I think it must be PMT coz that's the only time I ever get so upset.

I bought sheets that are like kylie sheets - but if they don't make things easier I will try pull-ups again. I don't make a fuss or tell them off if they wet the bed - just say try to wake up and go to toilet next time and then praise them if they have a dry night. DD1 objects to having pull-ups on and can get quite emotional about it because she says she's too old, but DD2 doesn't really need them but she will deliberately wee on the bed to prove that she does need a pull-up if she sees me putting one on her sister!

Anyway - HUGS to all and I hope every1's had a gr8 day xx
