    These are fantastic wee cars.

have got a panda at the moment and love it!!!! wanted to go one up really, but unless we can get a good deal might have to leave it!!!

i have not used an internet dealer before, cant afford to buy it cash and i refuse to pay interest charges

There's a 0% finance offer on some Puntos just now - might be 5 years though

divadee, don't be seduced by the 0% finance offers...

I have been looking at (wishing I could) get a Grande Punto for a while now...

No one ever pays the list price unless they are getting 0% finance...

So in most cases, you be better getting a loan and bargaining down the price, it'd be cheaper...

    I.e.

The drive the deal link above has the 1.2 Active @ £7062.22 (saving £1267 off list price)...

With selling your old car at £3000 (conservative estimate - easily more in reality), that leaves you needing £4100 (ish)

Barclays offer 6.3% APR on loans so £4100 over 5 years = £4775 total to repay. (i.e. £675 interest, BUT.....)

That means that you would save £500....!!!

So all the "Interest Free" version does is add the interest into the price you pay up front and then tells you its interest free....

I hope I explained that ok!

Something I forgot to expand on...

Trading cars in - everyone knows its stupid to do it, but people do it because they don't want the hassle of selling the car....

Have a look at http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/used-prices/ to see what your car is really worth...

If you don't mind, post back because i'd love to know how much your £3150 Panda is really worth!!

For 8.5k you could buy a much larger, safer car in the form of a SEAT Altea. They are the same car as an Audi A3, VW Golf, Skoda Octavia, just a different body and interior. Retained value make it a much better buy than the Fiat, the diesel also has cheap tax. Build quality is on a par with Audi but they are much more stylish.
There are a few nearly new 1.6 Reference Sports on Ebay at various garages, they are loaded with extras like climate control, cruise control, alloys etc and when it comes time to sell it will be worth more than the Fiat.

Its worth remembering that as soon as you drive out of the showroom in a brand new car you drop 17.5% down the drain, in the case of the Punto that is £1487 !!

Try to imagine actually throwing that money out of the window as you drive away from the dealer, then consider if a nearly new one is a better deal, 0% means nothing with an initial loss like that.

    Slightly misleading there...

    http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/review.aspx?model=1469&page=3

The Grande Punto received 5 stars in the ncap tests and only lost out to the Altea by 1 star in "child passenger safety"...

    Hardly a major concern...

There are other reasons to go for the Punto over the Altea too - MPG being one!

Although now I have seen the Altea on here http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/review.aspx?model=1285

I am tempted to get one soon.... is it smaller than the Leon?!?!

thanks you guys, i am waiting for the garage to ring me back as i am just trying to work out if i will get a better discount paying cash (ie get a loan for about 5k) than doing the 0% finance.

my target price for 0% finance is 9624 incl mettallic paint they will give me now 3638 for my car that has been agreed now!! so in total would have 5986 for 0% finance = 166.28 a month for 3 years.

i have been trying to work out figures for the internet dealers/brokers but some of them confuse me!!!! im a simpleton really when it comes to cars!!!

by the way the above figures are for the 1.3 diesel now defo not going for the 1.2 petrol.
