Not a good day to be single

I have never been that into Valentines Day but still, it isn't a great day to be single.

All the cards and stuff in the shops have just made me feel rubbish.

Anyone else feel the same?

Don't buy into the hype of Valentines Day, better to be happy on your own today that in a relationship that is wrong.

Just remember today is just another day - St. Valentine's Day began as a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus and it is only a commercial day today to make money for lots and make other feel disappointed and unhappy.

It's card shop day, flower seller day and cr* restaurant day. Everything is overpriced and there are stupid people filling all the tables to try and show their love on a single day every year.

You should pity them.

I totally agree. My hubby asked if I wanted to go out for a meal tonight or leave it to the weekend. I wasn't prepared to pay the crazy prices that they are charging (plus it's a school night!! I've got work early in the morning). It's the same as Christmas, all the party nights just cram everyone in (it feels like you are all siting in one big long trough when they stick all the tables together) and charge an arm and a leg for the pleasure!!

Today doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I find Christmas and New Years to be depressing times to be single, but valentines day never did mean anything to me.

personally, it's just another day to me. Sure, being single does get lonely at times, don't get me wrong, but honestly, today is really just another Thursday. Who said you have to be at your most romantic on the 14th of February? All the other days in the year count too.

It's only retailers that get any joy from today as the pressure is on for people to 'show their love'

Besides, you say you weren't really into the day anyway, so why make all the tat on display your reason for feeling sad?

Nope, am married and don't bother with it (other than to tell people to cherish any love they have, not just romantic), didn't really care when i was single either.

If it makes you feel any better I'm married and we don't do Valentines day. I'm happy with that but seeing all the soppy messages and photos of flowers on Facebook I'm feeling a bit...even though I know it's a rubbish commercial day.

When I was single, which I was for a long time, I used to make it a me love day (sounds less dodgy than it is). Made myself a nice meal or got my favourite takeaway, bought myself a box of chocs and new books or dvds and did whatever I wanted whilst reminding myself that there are so amazing things about being single.

When I was in a couple I thought it was a crap day to be partnered. Its a bit weird that you're expected to be suddenly more in love with your partner on one random day, and I never really went in for mushy gushy flowers cards etc. silliness. I was always waiting for it to end!

The best thing about Valentine's is all the heart shaped chocolate being reduced to bargain prizes when its over. Go to Tesco at about 10pm and stalk the guy with the yellow label gun!

Yep it's a crap day to be partnered as well. All the pressure to buy cards and unwanted gifts

I'm one of the poor sods cooking up a storm for all the romantics out there. All valentines means to me a back ache and a long night ahead

Tonight I shall mostly be working on my car. She needs a bit of TLC.
