jamski07 - simple answer > read Vauban's guide then decide to DIY after NBA or go to NWNF. If NWNF you decide but Botts seem one of the better ones.

Just wanted to confirm that Resolver have now (after one false start) updated the generated email for Aer Lingus, and they have indeed addressed it to Michelle Lee. Now I just have to hope that she reads and acts on it!

My complaint has been escalated as far as possible within Aer Lingus with no response from them, and has now been submitted through Resolver to the CAA. They have had it for 2 weeks, can you advise how long it is before they respond?

They can take forever. And, when they do reply if my complaint to the CAA regarding BlueAir of Bucharest is anything to go by, they are unable to do anything. The online companies like Bott & Co wont get involved with BlueAir. I suspect because they are domained in Romania and of course Bott & Co only want to do the easy UK type claims. Not sure where Air Lingus is actually domained though if it's Eire then you may have an easier ride than I. So much for EC directives!

Thanks Steve, I did a bit of reading after I posted and found that there's not a lot of good opinion of the CAA (although some of the recent responses from them do appear to be a bit more robust). I may give it a bit longer then see what Bott & Co. have to say about taking on Aer Lingus (who are indeed based in the Republic).

You could use the European Small Claims Procedure - see Dr. Watson's posts on the Ryanair thread.

I still haven't heard anything from the CAA, so I went to Bott & Co about 6 weeks ago and this morning my compensation from Aer Lingus (£133 after their fees had been taken off) has been credited to my account :A :T.
  • Hi,
I wonder if anyone has any ideas for me: We had a long weekend booked for Tenerife in January. I received an email yesterday with a notice of change of time. The flight is now scheduled to be 3 days later! (It seems that the winter timetable has just been revised from daily to weekly flights.) We have been offered a refund, and when pressed was offered a rerouting with a 9 hour change at Barcelona. 2 days in transit for a 3 day weekend doesn't add up. BA have a flight ex Gatwick that works in both directions (I can't just change one, as the car will be at BHX).
Can I insist on the rerouting to an equivalent (direct) flight (given BA are a sister company) or is it like it or lump it on the refund?
    Thanks,
    Mark
  • They're not sister companies. They just code share on some Italian routes. You can ask, but you can't insist.
  • I booked return flights from London Luton to Zurich in February a couple of months ago with Vueling. Today I received an email advising the flights had been rescheduled, to leave 5 days before and returning via Barcelona over 2 days (which are no good for me).

I have already booked a hotel (non-refundable) so I will still go but will incur significant extra cost in booking new flights (even taking account if I was given a refund).

I think I'm entitled to a refund but that's it, which I think is lousy but that appears to be the rules. Agree?

If your direct flight has been cancelled, why aren't they putting you on easyJet flights if they suit you and as Article 8 advises?
