Why Is There Not Much Help For Binge Eating Disorder (and if there is, where is it?)

Yep, even if you don't have a grain-free diet brown rice or rolled oats are better than white-flour bread

I'm still searching out blogs and other online resources for motivation about giving up / cutting down on sugar, here's a good one

Well I've had grainy bread today and no nuts and I'm nowhere near as bloated as I was yesterday. I don't eat white bread if I can help it.
I am still a tad bloated as I am every day but not uncomfy and breathless like yesterday. Very strange!
I think I need putting in a bag and shaking because I have been in agony with my jaw and TMJ again and have been up all night and have been in pain at work. Bloomin sick!
I am off back to the dentist on weds. She gave me some exercises to do and they made the pain loads worse!
So I haven't been out for my runs as I had planned due to pain and exhaustion. That probably sounds like an excuse but it hurts!!
I signed up for the online course with Beyond Temptation and just about to embark on my first week. I shall report back to let you know how goes it!
I hope everyone else is well.x0 -
Well I had a small handful of hazelnuts and almonds as a snack and i I look like I'm about to give birth to twins! Not breathless though so that's a bonus!0

I am continuing to read the posts, just don't have much to post at the moment.
Today I refused lots of cakes and soft drinks very politely. People are generally persistent in going go on, have some, why are you not having any and it is difficult to keep saying no politely for 10 minutes.0 -

Well done! What an achievement! I don't think I've ever been able to refuse in that situation.xx0 -

Not necessarily.
My GP has asked me to try a low oxalate diet and that essentially means cutting out all the brown bread/ rice/ pasta etc and eating white instead (though this part doesn't really affect me as I eat low carb anyway). Also means no celery, coffee, chocolate, cinnamon
But apparently another of her patients has had amazing improvement eating this way so I'd be a fool not to try to incorporate the principles where I can. Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Do you keep a food diary? I think you might find it worthwhile. You said before that you felt a lot healthier/happier on Cambridge and I suggested you went back to that and added foods in gradually to find out which were causing the problem. Why don't you do that?Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Thanks Daska...I had thought of that but I found it impossible to stick to towards the end of my time with doing it.
I was constantly thinking about food and always bad headaches and nausea. And my hair fell out! I did get this also when I first started it but I had a fortnight off work so took lots of painkillers and slept and it helped me get through my first few days.
I have been picking a lot again and feel so awful in myself that i have contemplated trying it again to get those quick results (I know that's not the right way to do it though). I bent down to put my socks on earlier and i was sooooo squashed I could have cried!
I have started writing things down food wise. I bought a page a day diary the other day and have started putting in (almost) everything I eat. When I've had a big meal i also write how it made me feel after. Like uncomfy or depressed or unattractive cos i'm fat - in the hope that this will help me remember how awful i felt in the hope it'll stop me from bingeing!!!
My beyond temptation course suggests continuing to overeat (for now) and to observe how/what I feel when I do. This helps to work out the reasons, which in turn helps you stop!0 -
Morning oopsa, hope the family is feeling better now

Could you have an allergy to nuts maybe?
I'm not an expert but perhaps (this might just be me) after years of not eating right (too much sugar and processed foods), taking medications (painkillers, antibiotics etc), maybe the chemicals in food, eating when stressed, bored, tired etc, it has left our digestive system compromised and not working efficiently and it needs extra care until it is stronger and then foods that cause pain can be re-introduced.
I've got it in my head that my bloating is caused by sugar (it's definitely lessened since reducing the crappy foods I was eating), even the bread in supermarkets has sugar and so many chemicals.
I feel like the "bad bacteria" has overtaken and I need to find a way to increase the "good bacteria" to get my digestive system working again.
This all takes time and months of better eating (eating well, chewing thoroughly, eating when hungry, not drinking too much when eating, not eating too late, not eating when stressed etc).
I'm not saying that I've solved all my problems (I've been on health kicks and given things up before and fallen off the wagon many times) but at the moment I'm quietly happy and cautious and feel like I'm finding what works for me....
Peer pressure is a problem, I have friends who feed me junky food when I visit them and it's hard to say no, I'll see what happens next time I go now that I've been eating well for a couple of weeks and hopefully am feeling stronger and the cravings are lessening.
Today at work there are chocolate croissants and danish pastries (we are given these every Friday), normally I would have had 2 by now and a sugary, milky latte and a yogurt, but this morning I had 1 slice of toast and peanut butter (normally I have 2 of everything!) and a green tea and I have brought the cakes to my team but not had any...we'll see how long that lasts!
I've read that the quality of our hair at this particular moment reflects our diet and lifestyle from a few months ago, so if our hair is falling out now it might not be because of immediate choices.
Perhaps when we change our diet there is an adjustment period, hair might fall out and then be renewed with healthier hair? I'm not a doctor or expert in any way, I just read alot so if there is hair loss maybe see a doctor as something like iron levels could be low....
Our bodies renew (for example the cells in our colon are renewed every few days) so after a few days/weeks/months/years of eating well and other positive lifestyle changes we could be completely new people even at a cellular level (I definitely read too much!
)
Sorry for long post, have a nice weekend all0
