I'm sorry but really, "best friends"?? I think you all need to grow up!

I agree with what has already been said here: this all sounds like playground stupidity. These women are not your friends, they are just children playing childish games. Don't get upset about it, don't stress over it, it's jsut too silly for words. Find yourself some adult friends and move on.
You had me at your proper use of "you're".

Wow. What an awful way to treat you on your first xmas alone. Why do you still refer to her as a friend?

Can't see why you felt you had to apologise. The woman said something hurtful about you and you no longer wanted to have contact with her via Facebook *shrug*

I think people who measure their friendships through Facebook are quite sad.

  • Fortunately her IFA at the time managed to do the deal on her mortgage without me needing to step up at the time, so I'm not tied to her in any way. :)

You're right LannieDuck, I really dont know why I associated with the woman after that.

I genuinely do not understand the big deal with the facebook thing. This has always been my biggest question here. Its a site, online, where people choose to or not choose to share information. Its not real life and its certainly not something that should ever be debated to that extent in real life. The only reason why I removed the other woman was because I posted a picture of my new home the day I moved out and she made comments about how much settlement I had got from the ex. I reminded myself at that point to stop sharing too much and removed her!

The most concerning thing about everything you've posted is that this woman is your BEST friend.

Your best friend? You have no other closer friend than this person who would shaft you aside because of someone else?

She doesn't sound like much of a friend (let alone a best friend).

Are there not any normal people who you could preoccupy yourself with over the oncoming weeks. Perhaps you'll find that you won't miss or care this lot?

I think it is a reflection of real life.
If you de-friend someone on Facebook you are saying that you don't want to be their friend. You're not just saying that on Facebook, you're saying that full stop.
If you didn't mean to make such a statement (i.e. you meant only on Facebook) then I believe you have got it wrong.
If you did mean to make such a statement (which is fair enough, given that she was out of order to you) then you have got to accept that there would be consequences to that. It does put mutual friends in a difficult position. It could, potentially, split a friendship group down the middle.
I think if this is the case then you need to be talking to your friends and explaining what you have done and why.

But you can't just go on thinking everything would carry on as normal.

Easiest solution is just to deactivate your facebook account. I did it a couple of weeks ago and it's such a relief!

I'd love to but theres people on there i do want to keep in touch with. My daughter for one, she lives in South Africa. She posts loads of random pictures of the babies she and her partner foster.

Start a new account with a slightly different name or nickname. Don't put your photo as profile pic. Let those you do want to keep in touch with know about the new account, use as normal with photos etc (and high provacy settings!).

Leave your old account dormant. That way, you don't have to 'defriend' anyone and if any nosy parker remarks that you haven't been on FB in ages, just say that you're really busy :)

    Easy.

LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT

OP - Your 'friend' sounds like a drama queen. You're better off without her in your life. If this is the hastle you get when she doesn't approve of something you did on Facebook, imagine what she'd be like if you did something that actually mattered....
