We have just exchanged today on a house that we will turn in six months into a 600 hundred grand property to go with our 4 rentals.
Get off your @rse , stop blaming every one else and turn your life around.

Things are not what they used to be. You show me a property now that you can get for a grand and I would find that grand (Some how) to buy it.
The rich poor divide is bigger now than it used to be and if you are born into poverty which is NOT a choice, it is damn hard to get out of it becasue of predujice. Landlords and tenants do have enough rights in place HOWEVER I believe that LL's should not be allowed to discriminate. If you are on DSS (I am as disabled/incapacitated), have dogs/cats/children, low or high income or whether or not you are a student of HE (which I will be soon, as a mature stu) should be irrelevant. You should supply good refs, have no ASBO's or noise nuisance orders to your name and that is it!!
I can not, and never will be ablke to buy my own house. I can't get council as the !!!!!!s keep selling the stock (probably to peeps like the idiot who posted this note) so I have to go private yet my choice is limited as I have dogs (well trained) and am on DSS. I have a good tenant record and have only once had probs paying rent but that was due circumstances out of my control. Estate Agents also need regulating. They should not be allowed to charge fees for applications which might not even result in securing a tenancy!! You don't get the fee's back if you don't get the property. It's theft!!0 -

I have never not taken in DSS and have tenant's with a huge dog.

Why have children born into poverty? If you can't afford them why have them.
Perhaps it was the idiots that had you were the problem.
Like I have said before, you make your own luck in life. I was not born with any money or given any by my family. When I was growing up I did any jobs that were available all the way through my School years and when I left School with no qualifications, I managed after several attempts to get a job.
I then, through hard work, proved that as long as you are honest and hardworking there is no job that you can not do.
That is why I hate hearing and reading about people like you that believe/expect to be given everything, that we have had to work hard for, handed to you on a plate.
Don't moan whinge and whine get off your @rse and change your life.0 -

.
Even with your limited amount of inteligence, how hard is it to get ref's typed up and give your mates telephone numbers to say how wonderful you are and how you have always paid on time never missed a payment always given the utilities you correct name 'John Smith'. Never had to explain to company's that you owe money to where you have flitted off to, ringing up catologue company's saying no one of that name has lived here.

What level of wealth / income should qualify you for children?
Not a retorical question. I'd like to know.0 -

I am also surprised by what I am reading here. I am a landlord with four properties in Telford. As a mid 50's builder, with a knackered body of a 65 year old due to the amount of work I've put it through, I have invested in property to pay us a small income and (hopefully) provide me with a pension in the future. Two of my properties have been completely restored to "as new" order and the other two are in very good order. I like to think that I am a very good landlord and I want my tenants to be very happy and satisfied with what they are renting. I believe that if I provide the right conditions my property will be well looked after and this will help to propect my investment. I have been fortunate enough to enjoy very good tenants to date, with only issues over cleaning being a problem with a couple of departing tenants.
However, my son is renting a house in Nottingham with 3 other students. His landlord is appalling and the house is an absolute disgrace. It is in very poor order and filthy; I was amazed that he ever agreed to take it on, but he assured me that they had looked at far worse. I don't know how to ensure that my son's landlord is forced to improve his act without the same legislation having an unfair effect on landlords like me but, in my son's case, his landlords inability to understand English at critical times of negociation certainly helps his position.
I do know, however, that people who abide by the rules tend to abide by ALL rules and can end up being penalised unfairly. Whereas people who consistantly ignore the rules generally ignore ALL rules and always seem to get away it it.0 -

Lynz
Why?
Like I have said before, all my properties all fully decorated, all correct cert's and if anything goes wrong all the correct proffesional trades put things right.
I am always on call whatever time to my tenant's,we take DSS, people with pets.
We have always put in new white goods, beds etc.
All I require in return is honesty and rents paid on time every month.
If you think I am an utter !!!!! so what, I won't lose any sleep, but the moment you take the food off my table so my children don't get fed heaven help you.
One young couple have been renting the same place for 4 years and have missed a couple of payments so what! but they always ring me in advance with the truth so that I know what is going on.
It's the blatent lies, skipping tenant low life's that I can't and won't stand.0 -
Sometimes children aren't born into poverty though, sometimes poverty comes up behind you through ill-health, redundancy, partner dying and remaining parent having to give up work. BUT what I think totallyskintperson was getting at was as a child you have no choice as to where in life you are born. Why have children born into poverty? If you can't afford them why have them.
Perhaps it was the idiots that had you were the problem.
So Pickles110564 with you saying
Were your parents not irresponsible because they had you when they had no money? Isn't it a bit hypocritical demanding that those who have children should only be wealthy when you yourself came from a poorer background?I was not born with any money or given any by my family. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all.
