£31.50 a month at the local council gym. It means I can swim as often as I like or take as many classes as I choose.

It all depends on what it does have. My gym doesn't have a pool, is only open til 3pm on Saturday and Sunday and we (my boyfriend and I) pay £45 for a couples membership. I don't care, I wouldn't use a pool and I train fasted on the weekends so am in the gym before noon.

However, I really believe my gym membership is worth it as it has multiple squat racks, abour fifteen olympic barbells, thousands of kilograms of plates, massive amount of dumbbells, etc. Plus I'm not only allowed, but encouraged to deadlift heavy :D
  • *sigh* there goes my jealousy again! We have 4 oly platforms and apparently that's the best equipped in the area for lifting.

I do like having a pool for days off though, if nothing else because I can have a cheeky sauna with a swim! :)

  • I know some people slate them, but I am with Bannatynes, and I love it. My local branch is really handy for accessing to or from work, the classes are fantastic, it is always spotlessly clean, and the staff are all very friendly.

I pay £43 for full membership which gives me access from 6.00-22.00 weekdays and 8.00-20.00 at weekends. There is a lovely decent sized pool, and apart from the absolute peak times when you do have to stalk the treadmills on occasion, there is plenty of equipment which is well maintained.

    I get my money's worth, as I do 5-8 classes a week!

  • I do think that's a little expensive, but to be honest you have to stalk treadmills everywhere - and Bannatynes do have a rep for being spotless!

I think as long as the membership is less than what you'd pay for the separate sessions, all is well :)

GF insists that if we don't do at least 3 classes a week we are not getting our money's worth.
