Yes, i can use afterschool club on one of the days (there is no club on the other - another bonus of the country!!), but she is basically feeling very tired and the teachers have said they think it is too much for her. Trying to debate what to do...it is difficult to do my work on reduced hours and i am struggling to keep up with things as it is.

Sorry re ASC..but not sure any childcare after school is restful. I think teachers sometimes forget that any childcare is hard work for kids but that parents have little choice.

I certainly tried to minimise any weekend stuff when DDs were small..they then recovered a bit from the week. Any chance of that?

Also re other stuff..haircuts..DIY or get a friend to do it. Summer clothes..use ebay or better still a charity shop. Think you need to save hp openly for other stuff, hun

Agreed about the childcare Brizzle. I was chatting to my cleaner yesterday (had the first 'me' day off work in aggesss!) - and she is doing some childminding, and said she might be able to do it for me. She is absolutely lovely and would be the perfect solution, so i have all fingers and toes crossed!! she would be able to bring the DD's home as well, which is also less tiring than the childminder. The childminder has a daughter a year older than DD and they get on great guns, but the extra playing is also very tiring. There was a meltdown of mammoth proportions last night. Sooo, FX.
Great idea on ebay! I am extremely stuck for shops here - however ebay is totally doable. i have no confidence in my hairdressing skills TBH, but maybe i will give it a go. DD1 would be fine with long hair now as she is finally keeping bobbles and clips in. The little one hates them so has to have shorter hair for now.
    What is hp?
I am glad of your post as it has reminded me how tight i need to keep the purse strings. i am def overspending (including when i don't REALLY need to) - so will 'pay myself first' next month. Focus focus!!

Well done and yes sounds like the best option...if I were you I'd make it worth her while to take your 2 on!

Sorry..typo..up turned into hp!! And openly was meant to be honestly! Sorry!

Maybe get a friend to cut the younger one's hair? She will still think its a treat if she's made to feel special and grown up even when it's in someone's kitchen!;)

Well done on staying strong. I know it's hard, my LBM has flickered on and off for 10 flaming years...

Yes, agreed on making it worth her while!! If she collects DD2 then i may be able to get something back from nursery for the shorter days, which could go to her.
I have a friend who may be able to do the hair...i'll ask her.
It really helps having the suggestions in here to stay focussed. Do you have a diary Brizzle? Very impressed with your DFD!! - would love to follow your journey. x
I am going to do a spreadsheet for next month's expenses and then physically envelope/ move the money as i find if it is in my account i spend it.

:( My lovely cleaner can't help - she said the other job won't let her move the time around and she would lose it if she did. So back to Square 1. Going to try talk to her to see if there is ANY way at all she could help.
Cross with myself for overspending at supermarket today too. Will not spend any more this week though apart from ASC and petrol driving for work, but both of those are unavoidable.

Yes keep talking and see whether she knows of anyone who can help.

Have to say have you thought of an au pair if you move to a 3 bed house...can PM you if you like and talk through some dos and don'ts But £75-100pw is usual pay... Might be an issue if no nearby transport but am not sure why not more often used by MSE peeps. With some care and consideration on all sides can be like finding a gold mine of support..at minimal charge, probably medium to longterm so your DDs get used to them, and especially useful for another pair of hands as you are having to cope on your own.

    Have a great week
