Oh - and looked at phone and broadband deals - the best deal at the moment seems to be SKY broadband and phone, which would save me circa £15 to £20 each month I think. Need to do the sums properly.

Moving costs a bomb!! even when you try and do it on the cheap! I have the keys to the new place now and an overlap to the end of the month to get straight. One of the hardest things is that you get set up in one place and then you need all different stuff to get the next place to work! - trying to be frugal though. I got a long second hand mirror for £8 off a local buy, swop, sell site which is groovy. I have bags of stuff that I won't be able to fit into the new house - I hate clutter. Mainly clothes and toys the girls have grown out of. I'd like to purge my stuff too. Need to find time to ebay it, but it can be such a bore!! If I stick it in the loft there it will probably just hang around until the next move.
New place has no curtains at all and in most of the rooms not even a curtain rail. There are no cupboards at all either and no storage. I just don't know how they can design modern homes without storage?! It does however have a gas combi boiler - I am beyond excited at the prospect of not running out of water! :T:T
Looking at earlier posts I can see this was started nearly 6 months ago and i have made zero progress financially in real terms, so I really hope I can slash costs now. Need to get the best energy deal. Have massive elec bill to pay from this place which will take a couple of months to clear i am sure. It is so hard to get straight!

    List of stuff to do:
    1. Find cheapest energy supplier
    2. Find best phone deal
    3. I really really want to buy a TV as have never owned one. The deal I am making with myself is that I have to sell all the old stuff in the house to raise funds. 7 items on Fleabay at the moment.
    4. Really sort out bank accounts so things are properly compartmentalised, to avoid temptation to overspend.

Well, have managed to cut down landline and broadband deal substantially - paid for a year upfront, now the monthly payments are around £13 if I remember rightly. Council Tax has also come down by £50 per month. I need to update SOA with all savings.
Still trying to sort out energy suppliers and have left over electricity debt from previous place for nearly £500 as it was so cold. Nightmare!!!
On top of that, the power shower in my flat has gone less than 2 years after it was last replaced. Last time it cost £700 to replace, so I am feeling really worried!!! - that is a ridiculous sum. Thinking I will buy replacement unit myself and post it to plumber to fit. I just need to find one at a decent rate.
DD1 not enjoying school dinners and has asked me to make packed lunch, so i will do that.
Just followed up on life assurance people who have over charged me by nearly £100 so praying I will get some cash back from that.
Sometimes it feels like 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Next month have DD1's birthday as well and she REALLY needs a new bed, so i am going to have to really focus to actually save anything next month. I am soo desperate to turn everything around as I really want to move back to town next year. So far - zero savings that have actually gone into my bank account.

Bought a like for like shower at the cheapest price i could find on the internet(£169 delivered) and am hoping the cost of the plumber fitting it will not be more than £90 + VAT.
Very worried about the giant elec bill. Am thinking I should just pay it with next month's wages. Need to check car MOT and tax which i think will be up too. So I guess I'll have to decide based on juggling those costs.
Am owed money from deposit on last property and chased that up today as it would be very helpful to have that right now.
Need to do something about compartmentalising the bank accounts as i think that would really help me be completely strict about the spending. Feeling bad about my inability to make any real progress. So frustrating!!!!:mad:When am I going to get on top of things and actually start saving???

Seriously doubt I will ever be able to save.
    If that's any consolation.

I have just read through your diary and I am really impressed at the way you have been managing.

Not only have you had to deal with the move, you have had to deal with so many other things as well as holding down a full time job.

So................ please look at your achievements and not the distance you still have to travel.

I haven't been well and I was recommended a book called The Compassionate Mind by Paul Gilbert. It has helped me to focus away from the difficulties. Well worth a read in my opinion.

    Take care and sleep well
