Yes, I think to wait to see how much the postage came to when I receive is the most reasonable way to go. Thank you all :)
  • Think people are being a little harsh here expecting discounts just because they've purchased more than one. Also 'demanding' they're then sent seperately is nonsensical, and indeed damaging to the environment etc.
The 'postage' cost is for the whole of delivery, so covers packaging, costs of getting to post office/courier etc.
I appreciate the situation doesn't sound logical, or ideal from a customer service point of view,, but the seller has said they don't offer combined postage, which the original poster has said they're ok about; indeed they knew this prior to purchase and still choose to do so. Threats of poor feedback can damage business considerably and having accepted the conditions by making the purchase, if the products are as described and delivered without any problems, it's unfair to criticise.

Ouch no, posts and packing should be just that, not travel, shoe leather or a nice latte on your way to the PO.

OP I hope your t shirts arrive quickly, it doesn't sound like your seller has much of a future on eBay.

You don't cover petrol costs in your delivery costs?

You need a new accountant :D

No, my associated costs all come off gross profit, I do not add them separately to my p and p costs. My p and p costs shown on eBay (assuming it is not a free post item) and charged to my buyers is just postage plus a few pence for packing costs

Yes, but a business sellers are well within their right to try and include petrol in shipping costs. Parcels don't beam themselves to the post office.

Even if its just an average based on daily sales - say 20p per parcel.

I agree about the shoes leather / coffees - but petrol is a legitimate cost of shipping

For the sake of fees on a matter of 20p I think I would rather keep my TRS status than risk it all on a buyer disagreeing that I am 'allowed ' to charge my petrol costs.

For me it would be a poor business model to save a penny or two at most but risk my enhanced visibility in Best Match and my TRS discount. I can outsell most of my competitors which means I can make more profit on the same goods overall as I don't tend to have popular stock sit on my shelves for long. (except for those truly truly awful business ideas I sometimes get).

We have people on here all the time saying their goods don't sell , my sell through rate is extremely high, I have very little that goes unsold so I am obviously doing something right and the majority of my stock is NOT free post.

But you do not explain it as thus.
You make out it is almost 'illegal' to add your costs to p&p.
As a business a cost is a cost is a cost is a cost. You might sneer at a business actually putting the cost in the P&P bracket but openly admit that you put the cost somewhere else.
    What is the bl00dy difference?

No one is or should be demanding a discount, but there's certainly nothing wrong in asking (preferably in advance) if a postage discount will be offered.

Actually it's not nonsensical if you have paid for 4 separate postage fees (as would 4 separate buyers) you should expect 4 separate parcels in fact I'm surprised no-ones mentioned that if you pay for all 4 items separately and then receive only 1 parcel you could claim for 3 parcels not delivered (as a technicality) obviously NOT morally, (as you did receive all 4 items paid for).

As for the environmental issue, if the seller refuses to discount yet sends as one parcel as it's more environmentally friendly then they should certainly pass on the packaging saving to the customer. And if that environmentally aware/bothered they should also pass on the saving of only needing to make 1 trip instead of the potential 4 and pass that saving on to the buyer too! (Be it petrol, or on foot - time is money people)! PMSL

No-one has threatened bad feedback, but bad service does deserve bad feedback.
Not combining postage and not giving a good reason why could reduce communication stars even if you're willing to accept postage as being reasonable (which when you take into account all the points raised above - IT'S NOT)!
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
