Welcome to life in the world of business... its not what you know, or how you perform... its about ego stroking and playing the game. I hate it and it certainly is not fair but that is how it works. Either you play the game and get promoted or you don't. You never know when you may be able to sneakily get your own back.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Hi, sorry, just my spin on this.
She is studying for a degree, presume she will finish this - he wants someone with a degree.
Hasn't passed her driving test yet, I presume she will (lessons?) - he wants someone with a licence
Have you seen her full CV and know she doesn't have pm experience?
Unless you are studying for a degree, trying for your licence and have pm experience then why would you be the better candidate?
As you say, you're happy where you are. Stop looking at the closed door and focus on the open one.
Yep I have seen her cv and she has no pm experience,0 -

and the rest? are you studying for a degree and taking lessons to drive? Sorry but I fail to understand how you could think you were the better candidate if she had two out the three things he needed?
and honestly, for your own sake, stop trying to pick holes and be mad, look at your new situation, your new job and boss that you like and focus on that. Honestly what good can come out of you sitting there getting yourself worked up for no reason at all?0 -

how awful 'sneakily get your own back'
the girl in role has ticked (as far as we know) 2 out of 3 of the criteria the boss was looking for. The OP doesn't. How can the OP possibly be the better candidate?0 -

I must admit this is the bit I don't understand either. Someone must have told you that the HR manager asked the HR co-ordinator, otherwise how would you know? So, why didn't you reply because I was told that I needed a degree, a driving license and experience? So why not tell the HR Coordinator why you did not apply, but also mention that you are extremely happy in your new role and the decision was obviously the right one for you

How come you've seen her CV? Surely that's confidential?0 -
Perhaps the manager just didn't think you would fit in well within the role. Tbh if you didn't apply I don't really see why you are complaining. If it's bothering you that much feed back to the HR co-ordinator as Floss2 suggested but if he's such an odious man, and you like you new job and new boss I fail to see what the problem is? Even if you had applied you still might not have got it - or could have got it and been really miserable

And for all the people who are commenting on the assets of the young lady who got the job, or assuming that she can only have been given the role based on her willingness to sleep with the boss, jeeze it feels as though we have stepped back to 1953 !!! No wonder women have such a tough time in the work place.0 -
Perhaps since it sounds like there wasn't a lot of applicants the manager chose to go with someone who was working towards the specifications and willing to train, rather than open up to external applicants?
You say yourself the job was rubbish and you don't seem keen on the manager - so why are you so bothered about not getting it? Is it just the fact that it pays a bit more? Try and focus on the positives about your new job rather than fixating on the old one.
If it helps at all with getting rid of feeling bitter then trying thinking of it this way. Think about if you were offered the two jobs today - the one you have now, that you enjoy, where you like your boss, that sounds like you're getting opportunities to progress with and being given new responsibilities - and the one where you don't like the role, don't like the boss but it pays a bit more. Would you really choose the other job that you'd hate just on the basis of a slightly higher wage?0 -

He then only interviewed and hired one of the customer care team.
She is still doing her degree
Hasnt yet passed her driving test
Has no project managememt experience. She is studying for a degree, presume she will finish this - he wants someone with a degree.

Having done a lot of interviewing in the past - if the job requirements were for someone with a degree, a driving licence and relevant experience, then this girl wouldn't have got as far a short list. She may get the required skills in the future but she doesn't have them at the moment.
She could be in a relationship with him or the daughter of a friend or a relation or he likes looking at her every day.0
