Having done a lot of interviewing in the past - if the job requirements were for someone with a degree, a driving licence and relevant experience, then this girl wouldn't have got as far a short list. She may get the required skills in the future but she doesn't have them at the moment.

She could be in a relationship with him or the daughter of a friend or a relation or he likes looking at her every day.

As I have. And the point I'm making here the OP has none of the desired list of criteria. So if you had two people to choose from, one had no criteria, and the other was working towards, nearly completed one of the criteria and was studying for the next part of criteria who would you choose?

The fact also remains, the OP did not even apply for this role!

I agree with other posters, to immediately assume a female is sleeping or has some sort of relationship just to get her role is a very antiquated assumption, remember now, the person in role has almost two out of the three criteria.

Sour grapes by the OP who cannot see and be grateful for the job she has now. Women do have it hard in the workplace and it's really unfair to latch on the poor argument of she must be performing sexual favours to the boss to get this role!

Then again, maybe she is. Whichever way, it's like talking to a brick wall so OP, keep your grapes and be unhappy. Or look at the open door and be grateful you have a job you enjoy! I'll leave it for you to mull over and discuss. Ciao the now.

That was my point she doesnt have the three things I was told were necessary I have the one that was stated as the most important (PM Experience). I believe that I was told these were necessary because it had already been decided to get her into this role and I needed to be discouraged from applying as I am a better fit on paper and was sucessful in the role (I know this from reviews).

I have seen her CV because I was doing the role and still picking bits up whilst in my new role.

The HR Coordinator is aware why I didnt apply and has fed this back to the HR Manager along with the caveat that I love my new role and its a better fit for me.

As I have said I know im being daft I was looking for coping mechanisms to stop me from telling him hes an idiot and a liar. (which he is)

    Have you read my posts?
You would realise a I was sucessfully doing the role but was persauded not to apply for it when it went perm. b I have the necessary skills and experience and can evidence this. c what my problem is (ie the lying to ensure I didnt apply) as well as that I am asking for coping mechanisms.

I think the best coping mechanism would be to focus on your new job and boss that you like. Keep smiling through the initial down feelings you have, keep looking forward, not back and in a few months this won't even cross your mind.

If the old boss is a liar and idiot be thankful you dodged the bullet! Oh, and good luck.

I don't think anyone has said she is !!!!! Why can't a young, pretty woman not have got the job because she is a good fit for the vacancy. Perhaps the manager wanted someone with new ideas who could bring a different perspective? Perhaps he found the OP intensly irritating, or maybe she wasn't that good at the job or was disliked by those she worked with. All assumptions and I am sure none are true. I just don't udnerstand why the OP is letting a job she didn't apply for and says she didn't like and didn't like the manager but is happy to allow a complete character assassination of someone who does not know and is unable to defend herself.

As for coping strategies OP - just move on and accept a decision was made that you didn't agree with. Life's not fair sometimes and we have to accept that - ultimately the only person this is affecting is you and I really don't see that it's worth it.

"Almost"! And there were no applicants who actually met those three requirements? Very unlikely.

If I was his manager, I would be asking questions about why he chose to appoint her.

mellymoo74 - you're probably better off not working for this person any more.

I'm sorry I still don't understand how you've seen her CV (not that it really matters I suppose). In all the organisations I've worked for only line managers, interviewers and HR got to see candidates' CVs. They weren't handed around for all to see and gossip about. It seems unprofessional to me.

Like others, I really don't see where you're coming from with this. You keep telling us how much better off you are. So what's upsetting you? Did you want to carry on working for a manager who didn't want you?

To be honest, this makes me think the manager was trying to find reasons not to employ the OP than to employ the new person. Otherwise he would have stated something this new person really did have that the OP didn't.

If you work there as well, and have additional facts to help the OP then you really ought to pipe up.

Of course if you being a little be bitter and twisted then you really need to pipe down and get back in the corner.

Wasn't the job advertised? If these requirements were in the job advert, then there's no excuse for appointing someone without any of them.
