lol beware of getting vista as it has a lot of problems with drivers and certain types of software! the xp option might be better, any ideas if the graphics cards offered by dell are any good, or is it better to buy them seperate?

Have a look on HotDealsUK... there is a bit of a discussion/recommendation on graphics cards there.

As for other posts on delivery - I ordered mine on Thursday and it is being delivered Wednesday pm. i.e. quick considering there is a bank holiday in between.

2 PCi slots from memory - but the specs are on the Dell website.

This superb Dell offer has been posted here on HUKD by MikeT but I couldn't see it on MSE yet - forgive me if it's already been posted.

Dell Dimension E520 desktop, basically the following spec:

Intel E4300 Processor, 2gb RAM, 250gb hard drive, DVD-RW, 19" flat panel monitor, Windows Vista Home. See the HUKD thread for much more information. The e-value code is 305-D05E02a.

What more could you ask for for under £330?! I think Dell give 5% on quidco too...

Update: This system is also available without a monitor for £270.32, handy if you've already got one or would rather choose your own. The option for no monitor appears if you use a different e-value code: 305-D05E02

I have had a computer 4 yrs but know very little about the technical side,i desperately need a new one as mine keeps crashing. My present computer is amd Athlon xp3000+2.16GHZ is this one a less or more powerful processer? i use it just for the internet but my sons like to play games and download films ect.iwould be most grateful for some advice.

Total excl. VAT VAT Rate Total incl. VAT
    Sub-total £229.00 17.50 % £269.08
    Total Delivery Charge £51.06 17.50 % £60.00
    Total Price £280.06 17.50 % £329.07

Noticed that they charge vat on sub-total, total delivery charge but then add the two together and charge again on total price. Why? you have already been charged the two so why charge on the total where the vat has been included. it should only be £280 not 329. Is this right or are they clearly overcharging here

I think the best advice before laying out any cash is to rebuild your PC - easily done by simply reinstalling your operating system. This can have an enormous effect as can adding a bit more memory. Your PC is more than adequate for the things you describe.

Have reinstalled the operating system but it did not fix the problem.

Just ran through the order process and you are right. VAT appears to be charged twice. Might be worth a call. At £280 (less Quidco) it would be a steal and I would order straight away.

They are charging it once, add the figures up before the 17.5% on the total

    e.g
£269.08+£51.06 = £280.06 , this is with NO Vat at all.

Your just reading it as they are charging Vat twice when in fact its once.

Another way to look at it is add the subtotal and the Del charge with the Vat inc and you will get your final fig.
