You can upgrade the integrated graphics card for a 256MB nVidia for £41.12 or 256MB ATI Radeon for £52.87 will this improve the performance of the system markedly? I only ask since I mostly use my PC for internet, email and I am rather addicted to football manager sims.
I have this PC first with the onboard graphics and then with the Ati X1300 Pro and I see no difference in performance for general usage.0 -

With grateful thanks to OP
Just ordered one for my sister to upgrade from her old Win98 clockwork PC.
I happened to get an e-mail flyer from Dell this morning for the E520, but with that link there was no free upgrade to 2Gb Ram, so nice link!0 -
Nothing wrong with this system, especially at the price, but there are a few limitations:
You can put a reasonable graphics card in, but don't go mad and put in a £200 one. There are two reasons, the power supply won't be able to supply enough power, and some of the top graphics cards are double thickness, and there isn't enough room in the case.
One of the joys of getting the E4300 processor is that it is extremely easy to overclock. Most of them can run at 50% more than the rated speed. You might not notice a 10% increase in speed, but 50% is a worthwhile increase. Unfortunately, the Dell motherboards won't let you overclock the CPU even a little bit.
If you are thinking of upgrading the graphics card, I would get that elsewhere, as Dell's business model is to charge outrageously for any upgrades to the machine. You are allowed to upgrade the machine yourself without voiding your Dell warranty. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I was reading the reviews on various websites of this deal, and the tekkies all seemed to think that this was an exceptional bargain. Some even went so far as to say that they couldn't put a build-it-yourself system together as good for the price.
Ordered it.The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -
i've ordered one for myself, my 8yr old system with a dodgy crt monitor, hard drive 85% full and upgraded to the eyeballs is creaking under the strain so i've gone for it......
What sort of lead time do they normally give for delivery, 3-4 days or is it a couple of weeks ???????? i appreciate that they'll be busy with offers like this0 -
We got our last one - 5100 - in just less than a week from ordering. Very quick. But I've heard it varies from 1-2 weeks. The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0
