You have permission to park anywhere legally you wish to do, this is why you have a tax disc on your car.

Park somewhere else if you don't like to be confronted by these bullies, however take some photos if you see them, note down any house numbers they come from and call the police, they are harassing law abiding motorists.

I understand completely that people don't appreciate others parking near their homes yet I am quite sure the School (and in the case of others: shops/railway station/factory/industrial estate/town centre etc etc) was there before they bought their present homes.
If they live next to the railway/motorway/airport you presumably accept the noise, why can't they also appreciate they made a choice when moving to their homes?
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.

i would do but there a few places to park.

[Bennifred Why don't you want to get the police involved? That is exactly what you should do! These people should not be allowed to get away with the aggresion and intimidation - report them.]

I agree this man should not be allowed to be aggressive to me. However he is just the type of middle class male that the police will side with and i am a single parent trying to get through college. The world is not a fair place.

You are making assumptions about the police reaction! They are there to uphold the law and it isn't you that is breaking it.

I'd just have a chat with your local PCSO and get them to meet you one day at the location and just walk with you past the property and see if he does anything then.

I would be grateful for some serious advice please as this i fear this will get out of hand.

I drop my child off at school and then park my car legally on a public road in maidenhead about 8am. I also ensure that my little micra does not obstruct driveways. However the first day I parked there this women banged on my window i thought the glass was going to break and started questioning me aggressively about my parking on the road. The next day the husband stated that he would take my number plate and report me. Since then they have been making a point of staring at me as I go from and to my car. Yesterday however husband came out in his dressing gown and moved his merc on to the road so i parked further down. he then waited for me to pass to shout at me whilst stabbing his finger at me stating that he took exception to me parking on HIS road and that he wishes that something would happen to my car. They are making things very unpleasant. I dont want to get the police involved is there anything else i can do?

So you leave the car there all day? Have to say that I live in a street plagued by idiots like that too. I can't stand it and although I know it means nothing I have been known to leave sarky notes on the car windscreens telling them to clear off.

You have no idea how annoying it is to see people arriving in your road and swanning off elsewhere all day like your road is their personal car park.

Why can't you park where you are at college? Does it have no car park?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Why not park somewhere else?
I live on a main road and have a wide driveway to get in and out so no problems, but if a car parks between my drive and my neighbour's drive it's not just difficult for him to get out but actually dangereous as he can't easily see oncoming vehicles.
Life's too short to worry about things like this when there's important stuff going on.

This is a growing problem in residential streets with limited parking.

From there point of view, you come along and leave your car all day so there is nowhere to park for the residents.

You are doing nothing illegal. (just look at any hospital side streets)
I have seen tyres let down, stickers all over the front screen etc, wrong but it works!!
    Your choose.
How far do you wish to push it?

Much as you don't want to involve the police if they have threatened to in anyway disable your car from its intended use that is criminal damage if they do.

If you think they may then logging a concern with the police now might be better in the long run.

Much as its frustrating for them they don't own the road. You are probably not the only person parking there and some may be less considerate.

As a first stage you could explain that their behaviour so far has given you reason for concern they may take some action that would be criminal damage and that much as you would like to park in a car park for the school there isn't one and that you have to drop off your child and have a perfect right to park legally, just as much right as they do.
Explain if they persist then you will out of concern that they are threatening criminal damage report the matter to the police.

And I would suggest to those people who you do that to, to do what you advise people to do with similar unenforceable notes left on their cars in private car parks.

Hypocrite springs to mind, advising people to ignore "tickets" given in private car parks, but when it is your road you don't want them parking there! It is a public road, as long as they are parked legally then tough!
