I'd been looking for a rescue dog for quite a while, but as my husband and I are first time owners it narrowed down our options quite a bit (rescue centres wanted experienced owners for a lot of the dogs I liked). Eventually I found the dog that was right for us - the rescue centre staff had named her Tinkerbell, which was a nickname my dad gave me when I was little.

I used to have a yellow Cortina, sold it privately and bought a dark blue Fiesta. Two years later I pulled into a DIY store 20 miles from home, and parked next to my old Cortina. I didn't ask the driver how it was going, in case it had cost him a lot of money in repairs. :rotfl: Took a photo of the two cars together.

I love things like this, we went to New Zealand and were staying in a motel. When we filled in the address form the lady behind the desk couldn't believe it as she was bought up on the same street many years before. Another time in Tenerife we made friends with a couple who it turns out lived on the next street to my in laws. On the same trip we met a couple who had married in the barn across the road from our house at the time.

Some of these are quite strange aren't they? Well beyond the law of averages I would have thought.

Mmmm...might be worth a lottery ticket tonight. :D

Arrived at Hong Kong airport, with a friends phone number written on my hand in biro. Couldn't work the phones - all touch screen/hightech this was back in 1998. Stopped a guy walking past and asked if he could help me and he just said 'Oh that's xxxxx number. I'm his mate I'm picking someone else up and you can follow us back'

Couple of weeks later in Whitsunday Islands, Oz, waiting for the second run of a shuttle bus, I saw a colleague who had left work in the UK 6 months earlier to start her 'World Tour'

Ah now, my brother had a yellow cortina nicked off him and it was never recovered. Wouldn't it be the spookiest thing if it was the same one. M reg I believe!

Whilst Vancouver O.H and I decided to travel by train up the Rockies to Whistler, wasn't planned just a random trip, wandered around for a few hours then headed back to the station for the return journey.Bad weather had delayed the train, a guy near us overheard our Mancunian accent and to pass time we started to chat, through the conversations it came about he worked in the building right next door to where my O.H works. Of all the stations in all the world we were at this one at the same time.

As a teenager i moved to Torquay to work, i'm from Sheffield. I made friends with a bloke who lived in Torquay. Fast forward 10 years, i'd moved to Leeds and flew to Glasgow to help set up an office there. In the airport bar in Glasgow was .................yep, my mate from Devon !

I was also sitting by a pool in Puerto Pollensa one year, chatting to a lady and her family. We discovered we lived 5 miles apart but even more spooky, we worked for the same bank, about 20 metres away from each other ! There are about 3000 people where i work so quite easy not to know everyone ! I see her regularly now !
  • when I was primary school age, my parents bought a holiday cottage in a small Welsh village over 100 miles away. We later found out it had been the lifelong home of my best friend's grandmother, long deceased.
