Life's little coincidences

...........and another one!
When I was 9 my family moved to Aberdeenshire from Lanarkshire - keeping in touch with my old friends just didn't seem an option in those days!
When I was 15 our school organised a trip to Italy along with other Aberdeenshire schools and I was lucky enough to go. On the plane we got talking to some girls from a school in Peterhead - one of them was one of my "best friends" from Lanarkshire!! Sadly, she didn't even remember me

I think there is a word for it when it seems more of a coincidence .....is it serendipity ?[/QUOTE]
I think the word is "synchronicity" - but I'm trying not to show off......!
It's true there are some amazing coincidences going on.0 -
Last year my husband and I decided as part of a mini-honeymoon we would go to an area 300k's from where I used to live in Oz.
We were swimming in a gorgeous ocean and I nearly freaked out when I saw my ex-partner swimming 20 metres away.... I used to live with this guy in a completely different State and hadn't seen him for 14 years.
At first I wasn't too sure, had sunnies on, sun was glaring, and my first thought was, no it can't be, he had a tattoo on his arm... then he turned around and I saw the tattoo....
I hid under water!0 -
A girl I went to Uni with in France added me on Facebook last year. At Uni, we had a year abroad - I spent mine in Edinburgh, she spent hers in Australia (1999)
After Uni, I went to live in Edinburgh, stayed in a youth hostel with lots of backpackers (2001). Met a guy call J****, who was from Australia and became friends, but lost touch when he went travelling.
When she added me on Facebook (2012), I had an idle look at her friends list. Yup. J**** was on it, they had met when she was in Oz, 13 years earlier. So when I met him, he actually already knew her.0 -
When I was 13 I went on summer camp to Wales with a girl from school. She had a holiday romance with a lad who was always talking about his best friend from back home called Chris.
My same schoolfriend went away with her parents that summer to Pontins and met a guy called Chris.
Few weeks later I was out with a group of friends from a different town, and they said were going to visit a mate I didn't know who lived about 30 miles away. I reluctantly piled in the car cheesed off because I knew I'd get in trouble for being late home. We arrived at the home of the friend and he was called Chris.
Yep, same guy. Small world indeed.0 -
Ooo another one I remembered!
Was backpacking solo round Oz after Uni and was on a 2 day bus tour of the Blue mountains. Fancied a change so got off the bus at the end of the first day, and didn't get back on. Walked to the nearest town, in the middle of nowhere and found a tiny tiny wooden youth hostel halfway up in the hills. Place was totally empty apart from a bloke cooking in the kitchen. We got chatting and I told him I lived in Wigan. He said he knew someone from there. I said "Well I don't actually live in Wigan centre, its a town outside called Ashton" and he said it sounded familiar, but not exact. He said said "It might have been Ashton Heath" and I just had a strange feeling, looked at him and said "This bloke you know, its Darren isn't it?". Not only did he know someone from my town but out a population of 35,000 people I'd guessed who it was. Just from a strange feeling.0 -

I live in South East, but did my undergrad degree at Aberdeen Uni...one of my courses was Criminal Law...I turned up to a seminar, and there was only one other person in the room (apparently seminar had been cancelled and everyone but us had gotten the message). Turns out we both used to go to the same 6th form college. lol.
More recently, the day before yesterday I had a text completely out of the blue from someone I'd met last year. I called them, we chatted and they told me I should try and get an internship in Westminster, or a job with DFID (I have a Masters in Peace Studies and initially met this chap for this reason - well, related issues). I thanked him and said I would consider it, but already had a job working for an IT company. After I hung up and went back to work I was called into a meeting with my manager - the company is "restructuring" and my position wont exist after this month - result was, I was being made redundant.
Now I just have to hope I can get a job/internship as I have no desire to be unemployed!0 -
When I was with the ex his Dad got out an old video from when the ex was young and in a playgroup play. We were all watching it when it became familiar to me and the next thing I appear on the video playing the queen of hearts in the play.0
