So, a Saturday morning catch up up from my partner's Mum's house. We're staying here for the weekend as she's very frail and needs some support. I'm up and about, but in my nightie, as they're both still sleeping soundly zzzzz! I think I will brave waking sleeping bears soon though and have a shower 🤣
This week I decided to to do some charity clothes shopping and bought 8 items for about £50. There are no open changing rooms in charity shops where I live at the moment, so I'm getting home then trying things on. I have happily returned 6 items that didn't fit. I'll put the money back into my clothing pot for next time. The charity shops will get it eventually! 💫🙂 so I hot some Fat face trousers that need taking up to fit my esteemed short stature and a bright pink and red Avoca jacket - not sure on this one as it is BRIGHT but for £16.97 for the two they were good value. I've decided I am not buying any 'new new' clothes until I have lost my lockdown loved up fat!! Sticking to ' new to me' clothes. Maybe largely for good actually. Feel good to have that smaller footprint on the world. Hope I can keep it up.
I so want to be a person who makes my good intentions come to being a reality. Making things, growing, cooking more, making do.
Need that in my life I think for all manner of reasons.
Need to tame my inner magpie who likes the sparkle of new bits, mind you she's sleeping now....
Just posting now.....
Showered at last!MiMi66 ☺️

So another longish gap and another eventful time. I thought I’d check in a just both update and remind myself of all the tools hat I’ve learnt to use. Wonderful space on MSE for that.I’m ok, debt free but still vulnerable to spending too much which why I’m checking in. Want to arrest what has been an historic bad habit. Scary how old ways can show themselves. I really have realised that my spending to excess and my mood/mental health are intertwined. If I’m low, stressed, overwhelmed - I shop more. And yes I’ve been low, stressed and overwhelmed - sadly the romance and relationship I had came to an end - if something seems too good to be true it usually is, and he was. I won’t go into it at length here, but sadly the relationship fell foul - I’m grateful for the good that was, but equally sad to have been so hurt by someone I trusted and invested in. And hurt me he did, I’d never really understood psychological abuse and how that can undo a person slowly but I do now. I have a lot more understanding of why a person finds it hard, impossible even, to leave an abusive partner. It knocked the stuffing out of me. So goodbye Man, hello antidepressants and therapy - that was nearly a year ago now and I’m feeling a lot more like my old self (thank the gods, heavens, angelic beings, bodhisattvas, and mythical wonders☺️).
Before we broke up we moved house and bought a house together - that is all being sorted out incredibly slowly and I’m hoping to not have to go into debt for legal fees. Dare I say never again to financially join with someone in such a profound way as co-owning a home. It will be messy to sort out but doable. I’ve started work again in the health service. So grateful for my qualification that has stood me in good stead to support myself.I wonder how everyone else is getting on?☺️🍃🍂🍁MiMi66 ☺️

Thank you @EssexHebridean - wonderful to see a familiar name.Yes debt free and very much wanting to stay that way. Hoping solicitors don’t take any crazy sums to get it all sorted out.I’m finding peace again now, it’s been such a tough few years. I think I’m some ways it was much easier to be single and a bit lonely than to be in a toxic relationship. I did so want it to work though but it was not to be.Staying out of debt is a bit like maintaining weight loss - quite a challenge that can only be addressed though incorporating better habits. I’ve lost the weight that used to grieve me so much! One up side to heartfelt angst!😂 so if I can stay debt free and the right side of a BMI of 25, I’ll be pleased. ☺️MiMi66 ☺️

Good morning ☺️ Does anyone know if there is a way of starting a new thread in a different part of the Forum (I thought I might start one in somewhere in here to encourage me in staying debt free and wise spending …. Not sure where), but linking this thread to the new one?I don’t want to lose my ‘thread’ and the journey I’ve had.Any wise MSEers who know how to do this? ☺️🧵🪡MiMi66 ☺️

Do you see a red circle with a plus sign in the bottom right hand corner?
That's a shortcut to starting a new thread wherever you are2 -
It's in the top right hand corner of my page, but it very easy to see wherever it is.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1

Well done on all you’ve achieved so far.Maybe start a diary in the diary sun forum. Most people on there are posting their debt free journeys but a few have finished and are posting about their savings etc. and staying debt free. What is your next financial goal?1
