i do clean shower evertime i'm in it, find that helps a lot. and my new discovery is denture cleaning tablets. drop one down the loo at night, quick whizz with brush in the morning, loo sparkly. (think coke works too, but denture tablets are 39p for 20 in cheap shop near me so i go for the cheap option!!)0

I did an online survey this morning and put my occupation as 'home executive' ;D
I have been shining my sink :-[
I set my alarm to try and get up before the kids anyway, so I dont have to run around the house after them half dressed, or encounter the postman in my dressong gown(not that the post comes that early often grrr...)
Today is the boys' bedrooms day, clean sheets, hoover, tidy and put away clothes. I think the motivation to keep on top of it is that next time it will be easier. I only iron stuff that REALLY REALLY needs it, which is not a lot if you grab it out of the drier whist its still warm, and either fold or hang straightaway.
My kids clean the sofas and chairs (leather) and fireplace with babywipes, and tidy the front room.
I got a box yesterday and did the 'fling boogie' or whatever its called, chuck out 27 things. Great, will be doing that every couple of days now til i no longer need to!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Mine are 12 and 16. Both started ironing and earning an allowance when they started at secondary school. I was abit neurotic about safety with leads etc at first. Had the odd accident with the dropped iron, but survived (the iron that is).
i used to iron for my mum's friends when i was a teenager. had 2 regular weekly 'contracts' as it were - it was a great was of earning money and i didn't mind as i watched TV at the same time!! its a long while ago now but i think i got about a fiver or so for a basket. also now i never feel like i have much ironing after growing up doing a couple of families worth!!!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

its the flylady thing where you go around and (perhaps whilst boogying!) grab 27 items to throw out, and then 27 to give away.... way of quickly de-cluttering your house!
m going to have a go one i've finished this bit of work!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Perhaps I should be more organised - I'm a great one for leaving the ironing until it becomes unmanageable (I hide it in my hubby's wardrobe). My 4 year old (only child) has just started school full time and I am now home alone for 2 days and I feel I should get more done. The first couple of weeks I wrote long lists of things to do and did quite well. I try to go to the gym twice on those days too. I work Wed-Fri, so forget doing anything other than the basics then e.g. clearing up kitchen, putting washing away etc, cooking supper, making packed lunches. Dusting, hoovering and tidying get left for the weekend, so I think now I can change that if I'm disciplined. I am actually bored being at home and would rather be lying on the sofa reading my book than doing housework. Also, 4 year old scatters toys and junk everywhere, hubby comes in and leaves shoes, laptop, coat etc all over the place. I also have the accounts for my husband's business to do on Mon and Tues, so housework is pretty low on my list. I'm sure I will get used to it, but at the moment the quiet and loneliness gets to me and I feel very unmotivated. Any suggestions to make it more fun?0

I put the music on LOUD that way I sing my way round and it doesn't seem such a chore then ;D
Two other things could help though...............teach little one to put toys away before bed, make it a routine and they get used to it ......................4 is not too young , with your help of course, and you should also find he/she won't get everything out
And as for hubby, well ;D......I know men are forever children ::) but get him to pick up after himself or write a list and say if he doesn't he can have 50% of the chores
That'll lighten your load 8)0 -
I have threatened Mr Spendless with a box. When I find something of his lying about it will go in this box and then when he can't find wallet/keys/tie/phone/shoes he will have to go hunt in his box for it. I have yet to carry out my threat (which was suggested by his mum! ;D)
so if anyone else does this, please let me know results!;D

Isn't it a lovely feeling when the house is all clean and tidy ;D
I try to do odd bits of cleaning etc while I'm doing other things as well. If I don't stay in the kitchen while I'm waiting for the potatoes to boil then they always boil over so I tend to whizz around the work surfaces and so on rather than just sta d there watching the pot!
People have actually laughed at me and my shiny sink!!! After I've finished using it I ALWAYS dry it up. Same with the bathroom basin as well.
