Sorry I didn't release you were in Scotland,.Scotland has a different scheme which I know nothing about. Sorry. I can try and find out and let you know.

  • do those on certain benefits get it free of charge?

If someone is on benefits they are entitled to an eco grant for a new boiler. This is not necessarily the whole cost of the installation though so a contributiin may be needed

Seems like if you are on benefits you can get old solid fuel BBU taken out and new combi gas boiler in all for free. But on Green Deal you can only get the boiler but you have to pay for all the other work upfront.

Sure sign that work doesn't pay.

Looks like all you could claim would be the £370 for new boiler and heating controls which after paying for a green deal assessment and cashback admin will probably only leave £170.

    Hi Captainhindsight,

    Greendeal website seemed to say:

Heating controls (roomstat and/or programmer and time/temperature zone controls)** £100
    and ** means:

** Cannot be claimed at same time as boiler replacement (as this is a regulatory requirement).

So is it not just £270 for boiler replacement ?

I seem to be on the right track to finding out, tenants have to call company to arrange a visit to check their paperwork.
I also read somewhere, that the whole system inc rads may be reccommended/ awarded.

The extra measure is only adding no more than £500 to the install cost so with the minimum cash back you should always be at least £500 better off.

    Hi CaptainHindSight,

Some sites suggest the flue gas recovery cost £1k to install, is £500 realistic in the South East/London area ?

    Thanks.

No you get £270 for the boiler, and £100 for the heating controls so £370.

You just do two separate applications, and have the installer notify the installs separately rather than one job.

This is Green Deal Cashback not the Home Improvement Fund though

Depends what boiler you have, the add ons range from £400-£700 or there are boilers with them built in from around £900.

Then there is just about 1 hour at most additional work to fit them if its a separate unit or no extra work if its a boiler with it built in.

I think most companies will just charge for the extra materials as the extra work is minimal.
