Would Green Deal cover the whole cost of converting solid fuel coke parkray back boiler central heating to new combi boiler gas central heating?

What are you asking green deal finance?

It is unlikely, as what you want will require improving the whole heating system to upgrade from what you've got to a combi.

The green deal finance will cover the cost of installing the boiler, you will have to pay to upgrade the heating system.

Also there is no reason why you can't claim back the home improvement fund cashback for the boiler its self, providing you fit one that qualifies and you are paying for it.

After having an assessment done, which green registered company do you go with, there are loads to choose from, but how do you know if there any good? I am looking to do solid wall insulation and possibly a boiler.

I just mean the boiler, rest of pipework and radiators are fine. Gas already to property.

That should be fine then, you may get some issues with going from a gravity fed Heating system to a preasarised heating system depending on the age of your existing plumbing which shouldn't be to costly if it is an issue this would not be covered by the green deal if it is necessary.

If you Havnt already had an assessment make sure the assessor is aware that gas is present at the property as some miss it if the current heating system isn't gas this means the report doesn't show the recomendations you want it to show. The best thing to do is to tell them what your after and they will be able to try and make sure it shows what you want it to show.

Thanks for the information. When I get assessment done I will be stressing that I have gas in the property.

My understanding is that the new Greendeal will pay £1000 towards a boiler. So what's the cost of a boiler installed, about £2000? Mine's nowhere near an outside wall so it's complicated, and not sure what the other item would be from the list. I would also need to install something else from the list and a certificate/assessment of which they would refund £100
Under the new incentive scheme, which is available from June, domestic energy customers can get:

up to £1000 for installing two measures from an approved list; and/or
up to £6000 for installing solid wall insulation; and
up to £100 refunded for their Green Deal Assessment

To be eligible, a customer must have the improvements recommended on an eligible Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), less than 24 months old, or a Green Deal Advice Report.

On a standard boiler installation for this scheme expect to pay around £2500 all in. This would include condensing gas boiler, gas flue heat recovery and the green deal advice report. Then this will get you minimum £1100 cash back .

I would go to the installer for the assessment as they will have agreements with an assessor company to make it as smooth as possible.

In your situation with a vertical flue expect to pay around £3000 for what I mentioned above.

The extra measure is only adding no more than £500 to the install cost so with the minimum cash back you should always be at least £500 better off.

Unfortunately people don't post there good experiences on here very often. If you can find a company that uses good local tradesmen they should do a good job. This industry is very competitive and some companies are using very poorly paid labor so the cheapest quote will not always be the best value

However, I would need to include one other measure to qualify. So lucky if they pay a fifth in the end, unless it's £1000 per measure.
