Never ever contact any one off board and out of sight of the moderators and other members who can protect you. Never ever make contact with any first time poster, and never ever give an address - phone number - or bank account details. Protect yourself - if in doubt contact the Forum Team on the TRHS of this screen. Look after the elderly & vulnerable who may just hand over their details to unknown sellers of warez.
Never enter the dark and murky twilight zone of offline PM's, out of sight and away from the protection the forum can offer. Richards purpose is to peddle warez, exert influence and escape scrutiny.
Forgive me if I am wrong but is this forum not for the purpose of providing information and journalistic articles enabling people to save money,
My purpose is to help people save money so much to the fact that I would do the job without even taking a deposit just to prove to yourself I am not the person you are making me out to be,
Granted you are welcome to your opinion0 -
I had a cold call this morning asking if i'd like to save money etc etc after a LONG call taking details I was asked for £470 for the assessment to take place! They started off making out like it was a government grant and I'd get free windows. Alarm bells rang and I asked them to post out the information so I could consider taking out a green deal. So glad now I have read up on it, what a con. I will be contacting the ombudsman when I get their contact details!!!
£470 for an assessment is unbelievable, I have heard of many companies doing assessment without even having access to funding on the hope it will come threw and nothing ever materialized, Another thing once an epc has been done the company that done it own the rights to it,
I would recommend to anyone to get it done yourself privately then that way when you get quotes for measures to be installed you can shop around for the best deal and best installer0 -

You came here, your purpose was to take money from MSE members by pointing them to your website or private messaging. Both these things you have done, the evidence is there for all to see. If you read my post clearly people can have installs free if heated by electric or coal and 50% off for gas central heated where in my posts does it say I am here to take money, do you understand how much it does cost to do an ewi install? I had many of my naibours done free a couple of month's back but funding has changed do u not think I would like to give it everyone for free yes I would but unfortunately that is not my call, I have seen many people on here having trouble with having epc done and paying silly money and getting nothing,
For people in my area looking for advice I can help without getting ripped of by these big companies thats my opinion0 -
Interestingly the MPs, trying to unravel the gas and electricity price rises, dug up the information that the electricity companies appear to have lost control over the tax they are spending on subsidised/freebie green measures.
I am trying to get rjocallaghan to explain the criteria he has to apply to such installations if he wants to get paid - in his case it seems to be "as long as it is a home with coal or electric heating, preferably with solid walls" (perhaps somewhere in the Midlands).
Up to now my understanding has been that the local community has to be categorised as in some way "deprived".
In another life I used to service the solid fuel heating system that heated the home of the late Queen Mother - according to this criteria "as long as it is a home with coal or electric heating, preferably with solid walls" she would have qualified and so do I.
I've got an "SS" (Southend on Sea) post code, so presumably that puts me out side of this particular post code lottery?.
Just for the record that is not a million miles from the most "deprived" community in England

I really do not know all the ins and outs, I am just a hard working man trying to provide for my family, All I can say is that it has never mattered which area the property is in if it is solid wall the funding is there and I don't see why it should be any different just because the area is deprived its meant to be about the uk being more greener is it not0
-
My postcode is in the top 10% of deprived areas, that's how I got free loft insulation and gas supply connection without being on any benefits. But my area is posh compared to that Daily Fail picture.
Daily Fail trying to make out that the official deprived areas are all like that.0 -

I think that the MPs and most of the public would not feel the need to pay tax in the form of an increased electricity bill, so the royal family could have their properties improved.
Last autumn my relative got a £500,000 home insulated for free and the bloke owning the other half of the semi refused to have his done at the same time.
Thus demonstrating the electricity company problem of not being able to give away these home improvements, let alone charge for them on the Green Deal.
Thus my understanding, that to get it done for free, the area should demonstrate a level of deprivation - mind you someone paying £500,000 for a modest home must be left somewhat deprived :rotfl:
Any chance of you popping down here and fixing me up with solid wall insulation and a heat pump?;)0 -

I really do not know how people have been declined just because of the area they live in, Not once have any of the houses I have done have even been refused I generally like to stick to getting full funding with no payment involved these being electric and coal heated, Alot of the work I get tend to be when I go to a new area and do a property people come up to me asking if I would pop over and have a look at there property,
I am far from a sales man who will come to your property and promise you the earth and get you to put down a lump sum just to do an epc and then just to turn round and say sorry I can not help you just not in my nature,
I always advise the owner they can either arrange to get an epc privately or I can get it done for them never once have I ever took any money for getting an epc done, To anyone thinking of getting one done I would never expect to pay more that £100 maximum.
I could pop down if you wanted me to have a look for you with regard to the Ewi that is not a problem , The heat pump on the other hand I would not be able to help you with that I am afraid0 -
This came today....
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, combined with limited information from the boiler scheme managers and funders, we have not been able to process your boiler replacement application"
They have given my details (without permission!!!!!) to another installer.0
