Green Deal - Oct 17 of this month [2013] figures :

    - GOV stats released a week ago
    - £16mi££ion on admin and marketing costs URL="http://www.insidehousing.co.uk/eco/green-deal-admin-and-marketing-costs-more-than-£16m/6528203.article"]FOI[/URL
    - and 57 had at least one measure installed, yep 57 only !
    - so of the 44,479 signing and paying for the assessment only 1% signed up and completed
    - yes I'll check back in twice a year in the near future !

Lets just turn that round shall we .... .... 99% payed [or otherwise] and said no ta! - stuff it - bit of a con.

The green deal is and always was a sham. Coal generation was phased out at least 5 years too early. £47 of the £120 per annum put onto every electricity bill payer in the UK is directly for the ECO bit of the green deal. The ECO bit of the green deal is not going to the fuel poor but to those with enough money to pay for the work in the first place. The warm front now disbanded was £11 and the green deal replacement is costing taxpayers £47 even though as proved above only 57 households benefited from the £16 mi££ion of regressive taxation. Regressive taxation hurts precisely the fuel poor more than the rest of society. DECC's oen figures last year said that by 2030 the price of leccy will rise 41% in real terms.

All oligopoly's such as the big six deliberately keep profit margins seen~to~be low. This is an essential half of the business model, its precisely this strategy that means no one else wants to enter the supply side, and no GOV of any complexion can claim excessive profits. Much better therefore to [1/2] hide the real profits in the generating side of their business, unregulated and not open to scrutiny even if we had a tougher regulator. The other 1/2 is to run a 'cartel' untouchable by arrangement with GOV that will mean all and any willing competitors will never risk their money entering the 'closed shop cartel'. It was Labour that phased out the energy pool where generators sold their capacity to the highest bidder, this firewall layer between generator and supplier if re-instated would go some long way to real competitive pricing of generated supply.

And so here we are, no security of supply, insufficient quantity of supply, the poor paying for the less poor or wealthy, spinning round and round on a stupid and increasingly expensive [+41% increase by 2030] windy mill roundabout. The new nuclear generation build profits going to a socialist state owned industry [EDF] and a communist state China.

    BTW:

Ecodave referred to in the above linky is, it turns out, a good person and a good and helpful MSE'er. I disagreed then and continue to disagree now with his view of the green deal, but as an individual contributor he has not sought to use his presence here for financial gain - I feel I should put that wrong opinion - and apologise to Ecodave right in an open to scrutiny forum.

Wow Richie some research. Not just a fiddle, the whole bloody orchestra.
  • Might only be 57 people who have took up Green Deal but maybe that is because it is not all that easy to do.

No one doing assessments yet, or the companies that are doing assessments aren't doing any finance work yet. Or there are just dodgy companies that just want to pick and choose what jobs they want to do on Green Deal e.g. cavity insulation only. Etc.

    xxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk

    SPAM.

Not to mention that it for benefit claimers only, which most of the shady companies hide away in the very small print.
  • Hi Lee,

I can guarantee that it is not just for people on benefits, There is also nothing hid away in the small print, I am a local tradesman from the warwickshire area not a large company

    - welcome to the forum
    - your offer of advice is encouraged, all members will I'm sure benefit
    - you could give that advice here, right here, where it can help all MSE'ers
    - and .. .. where MSE members can scrutinise advice offered and protect vulnerable individuals
    - that's why 1st time posters are not granted the right to 'link' URL's and email ady's in their 'newbie' # number
    - you might want to help by removing the URL link in #655 to your company
    - or people might suspect you are a spammer looking to sell your wares to an MSE client base
    - soliciting business however is against the rules, you might want to remove the link above, or ;
    - contact the Forum Team on the TRHS of this screen and ask if you can advertise

Others reading this should consider whether making contact with any first time unknown spammer / poster offline and out of sight of moderators and posters here who can protect you is a good idea. Its generally a bad idea to give complete strangers access to your details such as home address, email address, telephone number etc - if in doubt contact the Forum Team on the TRHS of this screen.

  • Contacted large well established local firm (Westville) for quote to fit exterior insulation to my solid walled bungalow. Quote of £13,788 but they said i could get a grant towards this of £7,400 which they would claim for me. However they want a deposit of 50% plus a further 40% before they apply the final coat. I am not keen to pay this much money prior to satisfactory completion of the work. Is this request normal for Green Deal work. Does anyone know a firm in the east midlands who would do this work without wanting a huge deposit

    Hi scimitardog,

I can arrange it for you with a small deposit and the rest on completion, I am currently working in the area on a bungalow you would also be more than welcome to come have a look at my work, PM me if you would like to know more.

    Thanks Richard

    To anyone reading this

Never ever contact any one off board and out of sight of the moderators and other members who can protect you. Never ever make contact with any first time poster, and never ever give an address - phone number - or bank account details. Protect yourself - if in doubt contact the Forum Team on the TRHS of this screen. Look after the elderly & vulnerable who may just hand over their details to unknown sellers of warez.

Never enter the dark and murky twilight zone of offline PM's, out of sight and away from the protection the forum can offer. Richards purpose is to peddle warez, exert influence and escape scrutiny.

MSE members could / should help by clicking the spam spam_v2_small.gif button on #655 & #657 & #660. It, spam, is against forum rules.
