I really do not know how people have been declined just because of the area they live in, Not once have any of the houses I have done have even been refused I generally like to stick to getting full funding with no payment involved these being electric and coal heated, Alot of the work I get tend to be when I go to a new area and do a property people come up to me asking if I would pop over and have a look at there property,

I am far from a sales man who will come to your property and promise you the earth and get you to put down a lump sum just to do an epc and then just to turn round and say sorry I can not help you just not in my nature,

I always advise the owner they can either arrange to get an epc privately or I can get it done for them never once have I ever took any money for getting an epc done, To anyone thinking of getting one done I would never expect to pay more that £100 maximum.

I could pop down if you wanted me to have a look for you with regard to the Ewi that is not a problem , The heat pump on the other hand I would not be able to help you with that I am afraid

Yes when I sold the home of my late uncle in the days of the HIP, the young woman who came to do the EPC confessed she was only getting £45 for doing it.

Now I have to confess that 2/3rds of my 120 sq mt bungalow is 1970's/1980's solid walls, but built by me from 9" Durox blocks. They were "seconds" blagged from the production plant a few miles away.
The original building would have been rendered chicken wire but many of these original walls have been encapsulated by the recent extensions, though a start was made, by a previous owner rebuilding in brick/block cavity block with a small section being created by laying the dense breeze block on their sides to make a 9" solid wall. I guess I will have to insulate the dense solid sections with "Celotex" or similar on the inside.

Having been turned down by a cavity filling company in the days of the £150 charge, I eventually got my cavities done by a pair of cooperative lads, and the three of us spent a fun morning probing the walls and stuffing the open tops to the cavities before squirting in grey styrene beads. Well that was over a year ago and there have been no adverse effects so far.
So I guess I have had my insulation subsidy already;)

Who is doing a free Green Deal Assessment?

    Hi

I've just booked an energy assessment, which will be wider than the GD but will include the GD elements as I'm interested in ECO funding for our solid walls.

The snag is that you need 12 months energy usage information. We switched from Scottish Power earlier this year, and stupidly didn't print off the details from our online account before the switch. The account is now closed, so I can't login. We were on an online tariff, so don't have adequate paper records for the job.

SP's website helpfully says that (for a charge) they can send me the old bills, but not how I request them or how long it will take.

Anyone got any experience they can share?

    Thanks.
  • Didn't know you had to have a years energy usage information for Green Deal. I'm hopefully getting a Green Deal assessment soon but I only have usage going back to Feb as I cleared alot of old paper work out.
  • We have been trying to get a Green Deal assessment for weeks without success, apparently the providers of the assessment are very busy and not prepared for the task.

I was promised that we could have our prepaid money back if we chose to not proceed so was interested to read that, that offer was probably related to the fact that they did the work?

I am not very impressed and have chosen a different but similar route.

I would recommend people are very careful with a group called "Lets Go Group" who did the telephone selling and took my money. My experience is there is a lot of talk but not a lot of action in fact one supplier told me that the Green Deal was not properly active yet in Worcestershire. A great deal of confusion for all parties it seems.

They were happy to take ours estimated, as we didn't have the paperwork for a years statement.

    Thanks LeeUK and lstar337.

The company that is doing our assessment has a reputation (based on what I've read) for thoroughness. And I can see the logic of seeing actual usage, as the Golden Rule (about not paying back more than the benefit) rather depends on an accurate calculation of prior energy use.

So I'll see what I can rustle up...
  • Had a Green Deal assessment carried out months ago on my solid walled house. Told would be eligble for ECO funding for solid wall insulation. Received EPC but despite many calls and emails nothing more heard from assessor.
Anyone know of a provider who will do internal wall insulation on green deal in Yorkshire?
