2 weeks ago I was informed that the scheme would go live in June.
There are currently issues with the reporting software. These have been ongoing for quite some time.

Don't bother with double glazing, you wont get funding for it.

DG is part funded under the green deal but unless you have had or are planning to have other improvements (insulation, roof & walls, new boiler etc) it really is not worth it.

"""The funding scheme is being rewritten""" in #485 by 'Coulsdon Town' just two # above your post

As far as I am aware, the current software is the issue more than anything else.

The GD scheme is amended on a regular basis.

Going by the rubbish written in our report, the only way to get it is alongside the only thing we cant possibly have, wall insulation.
  • Has anybody got an indication as to when the green deal will be available, I can see by previous posts it is being re written, but somebody in the industry reading this can put a time scale onto its availability, are we talking days, weeks or even months ! I thought the government was to release figures at the end of June regarding the conversion rate from the 19,000 assessments who actually went on to have work done under this scheme, as it stands that should be easily calculated at the moment because it probably stands as zero !!!

Yes, DECC say they will release first stats on conversion of GD Assessments to completed works on 27/6/2013. Page 3 of this document
    https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/198715/statistical_release_green_deal_eco_may_2013.pdf
I don't know if they will show one figure for those works financed by a GD Loan (if any) and another figure for those financed by other means.
Parliament's Energy and Climate Change Select Committee published its first review of Green Deal and ECO on 22th May. It sounds pretty terrible to me. Link to story below
    http://www.greenwisebusiness.co.uk/news/mps-criticise-government-for-confusion-over-green-deal-and-eco-plans-3943.aspx
I quote : 'Key areas for scrutiny
The report raised seven "key areas" of concern – public awareness and communications; take-up levels; energy and carbon savings; financial savings and value for money; access to the Green Deal and ECO; customer satisfaction; and supply chain and job creation'. That sounds like virtually every aspect of Green Deal to me...
Further quote : 'Chairman...Tim Yeo MP, said it was "unacceptable" that "Ministers were unable to explain what success would look like of one of the Coalition’s flagship policies" three years since the Green Deal was announced.' In other words, the ministers responsible for GD can't (or won't) tell parliament what results would constitute a 'successful' Green Deal.
I'm now wondering if there is enough political will remaining behind GD to make it work at all.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Unfortunately it is the case that at present we are unable to offer solid-wall insulation to individual customers. Our ECO department now has your details on file and we do hope to be able to help in about 6 months time. We will be in touch if this service becomes available.

I hope this is helpful and I do apologise that you were given incorrect information.

    David

I have read elsewhere that an installer who was passed an enquiry for solid-wall insulation (lead came from from an energy supplier) told the householder this 'isn't covered' by ECO. Householder checked with Energy Saving Trust which contradicted this, but the installer basically told the householder he was talking rubbish.
My 'source' who works in the industry concluded that because of the current 'price' of carbon (weird concept but that's what this is all based on), Green Deal participants don't want to do solid-wall insulation yet on individual properties. It's much more cost-efficient to do whole terraces or estates, and the suspicion is that A) They don't care about your needs and B) They will only be in touch when the price of carbon suits them, with 'about 6 months time' being as long as a piece of string.
Any comment from a representative of any of the 'Big 6' on that?

See MP's quotes here. Just found this Hansard Report (parliament debates) from 14/03/2013 : Luciana Berger (Liverpool, Wavertree) (Lab/Co-op): "It is just over a month since the green deal was launched. We have just heard that more than 2,000 assessments have taken place. However, the Secretary of State refuses to reveal how many households have actually signed for a green deal package."
The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change (Mr Edward Davey): "...after an assessment has been made and an installation programme has been booked, the green deal plan is signed only after the installation has been completed and then goes on to the green deal register for the green deal payments to appear on the bill."
It looks to me like the official stats (due on 27/06/2013) will only be based on green deal works which HAVE been financed by Green Deal Finance. In that case the figure could be very low or zero, and we will be none the wiser about GD Assessments which led to completed works financed by other means?

Can I get an old Parkray room heater coal fire and back boiler replaced with new a gas boiler on Green Deal?

Or do you have to already have gas in so they can just to a straight old for new swap?

There must be a gas supply to the property.

Green Deal and ECO are 2 different schemes.

ECO is available to those in fuel poverty and hard to heat homes and the work is free to the customer. Funded by the Energy Companies.

Green Deal is available to everyone with an electric meter and is a loan for home energy improvements.
