You won't be eligible for the cashback through the GD scheme if you do not accept a GD quote. If you want to use a Gas Safe engineer and pay for the works yourself, then that engineer MUST be PAS2030 certified and approved by the GD provider, even if you do not require the loan.
Who can apply?- Who can apply for the Green Deal Cashback Scheme? This scheme is open for domestic properties in England and Wales only. It is intended to work alongside the Green Deal and therefore is open to customers that have had a Green Deal Assessment after October 2012 and have accepted a quote from a Green Deal Provider. The Cashback will be paid to whoever pays for the installation work to take place or whoever signs up to the Green Deal Plan, if using Green Deal Finance. Therefore, it could be paid to homeowners, landlords or tenants, depending on who is paying the cost of the installation. You are free to choose whether to pay the installation costs through Green Deal Finance or through other payment methods (such as savings).

Also please, please check that anyone you use is GAS SAFE registered. GAS SAFE is the official gas registration body in the UK and replaced Corgi in 2009.0 -
I read this in an industry publication this week : 'The funding scheme is being rewritten, as it appears to be unlawful and funds are still not available'. That seems to be the main hold-up in a nutshell. The issues seem to centre on who is responsible for the green deal repayments (through the electricity bill) in a range of different scenarios to do with change of tenant / empty property etc etc.A cynic is not merely one who reads bitter lessons from the past; he is one who is prematurely disappointed in the future. The minimum package of assistance under the affordable warmth obligation
We know that in England and Wales as of the 10th of this month 9,128 referrals had been made to the obligated suppliers via the DWP's eligibility check. Scotland make separate arrangements, and NI are not part of ECO / AWO. NOTE : No mention of anything other than the minimum package.
Rising Costs - The below are the 2011 to 2012 average fuel components of the RPI increases since 2005 according to DECC
Gas has gone from 201.4 to 228.8
Electricity has gone from 166.1 to 175.5
Heating oil has gone from 201.4 to 206.8
Coal and smokeless fuels has gone from 169.8 to 175.1
In other words since 2005 Gas is up 128%, leccy 75%, oil 106% and coal etc 75% .. .. according to the GOV / DECC's convenient RPI figures. Using these RPI figures in Hansard to show relative energy cost increases is a sham, they bear no relation to real time costs we are all having to pay. Current GOV said of DECC recently .. .. "we cant see how taxpayers can avoid having to stump up for DECC’s failings"Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Apple don't write software for the Green Deal. Ipad/iPhones make use of apps that are developed by software companies that can be used to complete assessments under Green Deal.
The bad news is that you will very likely be disappointed with the result of the assessment, as double glazing will only be part financed under the Green Deal. Whilst double gazing will reduce your energy bills, slightly, it won't deliver savings that would match the repayment cost of the measure, spread over the lifetime of the finance.0 -

Has anybody got an indication as to when the green deal will be available, I can see by previous posts it is being re written, but somebody in the industry reading this can put a time scale onto its availability, are we talking days, weeks or even months ! I thought the government was to release figures at the end of June regarding the conversion rate from the 19,000 assessments who actually went on to have work done under this scheme, as it stands that should be easily calculated at the moment because it probably stands as zero !!!0
