He has to be part of a group of firms willing to do all work under the green deal - from solid wall to cavity installation, onwards.
From what I've looked into he can register for boilers installation then go on the providers lists as an installer and then contact me when work in my area,? Some charge for you to go on there lists u think ..
Do correct me if I'm wrong?0 -
Yes he can be a Green Deal Installer by himself - a Green Deal Provider will then employ a group of Green Deal Installers to cover the relevant areas for that property.
The registration process is easier for larger companies that already have the processes in place, and who wrote the requirements for the Govt to deliberately make it harder for small companies to join!
My advice would be to wait a few months and see what happens with the Green Deal - anecdotal feedback is that few people are interested while the interest rates are so high. Still problems with insufficient assessors and buggy software. There's never an advantage in being first in line with these Govt schemes!0 -
I was very enthusiastic about the Green Deal and quite hopeful. Having a 30year old boiler and wooden windows with no double glazing I mistakenly thought I would stand a fair chance of some form of contribution for improvements. I had paid for loft and cavity wall insulation 2 years ago.
I happily paid my £99 assessor fee and he promptly visited 4 days later.
I think these independent assessors are rubbing their hands together, they are rushed off their feet and, as far as I can see, are the main beneficiaries of the 'Green Deal'.
After my assessment the assessor told me that he was 99.9% sure upstairs double glazing would come within the scheme and probably a boiler upgrade.
Unfortunately he rang me later to let me know that the only thing I would be entitled to would be draught excluders on my external doors, which really would not be worth my while doing. However, if I was still interested in double glazing and a boiler upgrade there may be some sort of contribution from 'Green Deal'. That was a week ago, I've still not received my report or the promised phone call to discuss the my options. I think, unless you live in something with the insulation quality of a garden shed and on benefits, it is unlikely this will be £99 well spent.0 -

I don't think he's told you right. I'd wait for your pack to come through before you decide anything TBH. We have a 20 year old boiler and two thirds of our windows are single pane and we were advised both could be replaced under the Green Deal. We haven't got our pack through yet either. Who did you use? It sounds like they aren't confident it what they are doing.0 -
Gilly 3 I am sorry but I think you will be further disapointed with the result of your assessment when you get it. When you get your report you will likely only get a small part of your boiler funded and only very small part of D/G funded
From the very basic details that you have posted ie. you have loft/cavity will insulation I could have explained to you that its not possible to fund a boiler/DG replacement entirely because you wont make the savings . Many people are having assessments when clearly what they are hoping for will not be possible even though everyone is being told pay for D/G and boilers out of the savings. Sadly the scheme is not as simple as that.
Very few circumstances will anyone be able to fund boilers/DG through there energy savings!!!!!!!
Please post the results for others so they can see how the scheme (works or not)
Just to let you know I am an Energy Assessor and now training to be a Green Deal Advisor0 -

'Advised' of it but you haven't received the official pack - unfortunately you're likely to be disappointed when you receive it, as double glazing is unlikely to meet the payback requirement.
Biggest scam ever is the double glazing industry convincing everyone that new double glazing is the answer to all their energy costs worries.....:mad:0 -
I have just deleted my posting on the "Green Deal". It was too long and poorly written.
I'll instead cut to the chase. It is too good to be true. It's very easy to prove - challenge the "Green Deal" to publish the outcomes so far.
This thread has many good pro/anti postings but why not simply look at what is actually happening to the applications. Speak to the people who are being paid to support it. If they now feel it is both cynical & pointless and virtually impossible to defend they might be right. The figures just don't work.
For the vast majority of applicants so far the £120 fee has delivered an offer of loft insulation that you have to pay for.
I think Martin has got this one wrong. He would do us all a great service on this vital issue to ask that the results so far be made available. If it's working as advertised the figures will both prove it and promote it.
A week ago I spent time on GoogleMaps trying to work out the size of my roof and it's direction to see if solar would be an option. I really was keen.
Since then I haven't found a shred of evidence that it's working. I wish it was. But I haven't been able to find a single soul that is anything other than sickened by how things have actually turned out.0 -

Actually, they are most definatelty worth your while doing.
But not under the green deal. Just get a local tradesman to do it for you for half the price a GD installer will likely charge
